Left me with physical irregularities and scars as well as emotional ones

This Doctor Offered Me $3000 Not to Write This Review

I'd like to make it known that I've had 2 surgeries with Dr. A that I was extremely unhappy with and was offered $3k to not write a review by this doctor and his manager when I asked for a refund to fix the major issues, not to mention, emotional damage he had caused. So you should already be questioning this google rating and every rating that you've seen. I told them they could keep their money, I'd rather save future patients from making my and many others mistakes.
This passage is long but these are the main things you should take from this review:
- This doctor gives false assurance and has his own agenda with your results
- His ego refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes or to compensate fairly for damages resulted by his life long affects on your body and self confidence.
- He is not as capable as a lot of surgeons out there, saying not to do many things you ask for that I learned other doctors will happily do
- his staff themselves have voiced unhappiness with his management, personality, work and a couple have suggested I go somewhere else because they don't believe in his work
- his office and practice is always over booked. Your surgery will be pushed in between 2-4 others. For your consults you will always be waiting 1-2.5 hours to see this doctor. When you do consult with him, he'll be rushing through the consultation and won't even remember your discussions a WEEK later. During your surgery he may end it early, and push off something telling you to come back another time...even though you paid for it to be done. He's done that to me and one other person I know.
- his social media hypes up his practice way more than his quality really is, only posting his successful work
When I first came to Dr. A, I told him that I wanted lipo of my abdomen, arms and a possible thigh tuck since my thighs have touching/rubbing my whole life. I've had lipedema and PCOS, so maintaining my weight has always been a life long struggle. I came to him during a time of my lowest weight, on keto and going to a dietitian weekly, and wanted to remove the stubborn fat that wouldn't go with diet and exercise.
During my consult, I told him my wishes and my current weight and diet status. He immediately was against doing any tucks, said I was too young for that, and suggested lipo and to utilize the fat in a fat transfer to my butt. I told him I already liked my butt (i've gotten compliments on it my whole life) and would much rather put the fat in my small A/B breasts. I told him about my insecurities about my weight and didn't want to add any more volume to my short body. He kept pushing to put fat in my butt, and he said I had weight loss areas in my butt. So I agreed to a "tiny, small" amount in my butt divits with majority in my breasts. I kept emphasizing that I wanted to keep my athletic body. He suggested a lipo of the inner thighs, lipo 360, lipo arms and then the fat transfers. I also asked if he could extract the lipomas in my lower back that were deep, but he said he would only lipo them out. I told him I was concerned about them breaking apart and spreading, but he kept assuring my that wouldn't happen.
Surgery 1: Before the surgery he made the markings and I again told him I wanted a tiny small bit in my butt, wanted to stay athletic and put most of my fat in my breasts. When I woke up after the surgery, to my horror, I found out that Dr. A put 500 cc in each butt cheek and only 100 cc in each breast. My butt was huge. Where I was hoping he was going to fill in my weight loss divots, he made my butt a whole different shape and stick out whole inches more, totally changed my physique. My boobs were pretty much the same. my abdomen had a section of fat that had not been removed under my belly button, my right arm had more fat left in it than the left. My lipomas, as I predicted, broke apart and started growing in a new section of my back causing me discomfort and irregularities. My thighs pretty much looked the same.
When I approached him about my major unhappiness, he defended "i normally put 1500 cc in each cheek, yours was only 500 cc". And I kept stating that's not what I asked for. He brushed it off and said it would absorb overtime. I said I was still unhappy with my leg results, and he said we could lipo the anterior thighs very lightly. I told him I thought that was a good plan, but I did not want to do it if there was any possibility that the skin would become irregular and loose, he kept assuring me that would not happen. There was some fat that migrated to my waist and my lipomas were still there, he said he would try a second time to lipo them out and more agressively this time, also to smoothe out my hips. He suggested a 2nd surgery and we planned for a one 7 mons later to fix the major issues. There was nothing we could do about the enlarged butt so I let that go.
Surgery 2: plans to remove lipomas, lipo lower back/smoothe out waist, lipo fat bulge on lower abdomen, light lipo anterior thighs, more fat transfer to my breasts.
When I woke up, I found out that my back and waist weren't even touched. My surgery was pushed in between 3 others and they did not have time. He asked if I could come in and do it at the office with local anesthesia (which i tried and he still didn't have time for). My upper L thigh had a huge divot in it. When the swelling subsided, I found the whole left leg had more fat removed than the right and both were irregular. The skin is now loose and jiggles as I walk, just as I predicted. My abdomen and breasts were done as discussed.
So after these 2 procedures, I left with these problems:
-Irregular and loose thighs
-large divot in my left thigh
-fat still on my waist making my butt look square
-more fat left on my right arm
-lipomas now that are uncomfortable
- a huge butt that I didn't ask for
-cellulite on my back legs forming from the weight of the large butt
-dog ear scars that other surgeons have told me show have been stitched close.
I have spoken to almost 6 surgeons and the liposuction revision that I will need will cost me anywhere from 20k-80k depending on the skill, reputation, and experience of each surgeon. and still my body will most likely never be what I originally wanted, the skin will always be looser, and most likey always be there with some possible improvement with more fat transfer or thigh tuck. But ultimately, the greatest hit has been my self confidence. This doctor has left me with physical irregularities and scars as well as emotional ones. Already having a few small body insecurities, now I have major ones. Wearing a swimsuit is a huge struggle and I'm scared to be naked with anyone, where that never was an issue.
I went back to his office, I spent 2 consults in tears with him and his staff, arguing back and forth with the doctor, having him dodge answers to my questions and dodge acceptance of these issues he caused that I did everything I could to prevent. It was honestly like talking to a child. Some of his staff were suggesting I go to specific surgeons they themselves went to out of town instead of their own boss due to their own mistrust. He offered to do a 3rd procedure for free, which I obviously refused. I asked him to refund me the money for my procedures so that I could try and remedy these major issues. I kept asking him how much he would charge someone to fix these same issues and he kept dodging the question. Both times he referred me to his manager for a refund. I spent 5-6 weeks going back and forth with his manager Erica. After the first consult they offered me $1500, which I said was unacceptable. After the 2nd consult and thoroughly going over the issues he caused, he offered $3000. Which I kept asking them why weren't they doing me right of this wrong. Eventually she said he agreed to the full refund but told me to wait longer. After 2 weeks of pushing off my calls, they finally said that my 5lb weight gain was the cause of the irregularities and 3k was the final offer and this was only under the condition that I would sign an agreement to not write any reviews against him. They sent me pictures taken in the office, that I will attach to this review, and said the weight gain was the reasoning for my irregularities and they would not pay more. I told them I only gained 5 lbs (the last pic was taken during thanksgiving time and holiday weight). I told them to save their money and I'd rather write the reviews instead. So here we are.
After reading about my experience, I implore you to consult with several doctors. Pay attention to their bedside manner, their promises and arrogance. Follow your gut, if something doesn't seem right it probably isn't. Pay more money for your mental health and have the job done right if you have to. This doctor is one I assure you will leave you feeling like a number and not a person.

I had a bunch of work done by Dr Angobaldo in Dec 2017 (360 lipo of the thighs, inner thigh lift, lipo on my abdomen, lower back and fat transfer to my hip dips) and I'm in the same boat. He is not a sculpture!!! While my circumferential thigh lift was ok, the lipo on my knee complex/thighs had to be redone in 2022 to the tune of $16k (by Dr Su at Artlipo in Tampa, FL) and that was after a Round 2 touch up by Dr Angobaldo back in August 2020 which still did not correct all of the dents and dings I was left with after my lipo with him from 2017. DO NOT COME HERE FOR LIPO - especially of the legs you will be highly disappointed, see Dr Su instead.
