Extremely Disappointed in Postoperative Care

My experience with Dr. David P. Stapenhorst has been extremely disappointing, particularly when it comes to postoperative care and how my concerns were handled.

I underwent liposuction and lower abdominal skin removal, and during my recovery I experienced extensive bruising, swelling in my hands and legs, a puffy face, abdominal tenderness, vomiting, and a significant increase in my migraines. For three days, 9 days post surgery, I was experiencing as many as three migraines a day, which is very unusual for me.

I contacted Dr. Stapenhorst to explain my symptoms because I was concerned about what was happening to my body after surgery. Instead of feeling reassured or receiving a clear plan for evaluation, I was told that these symptoms had nothing to do with my surgery and that I should make an appointment with my regular doctor.

I was especially disappointed by the lack of concern I felt when I explained how many symptoms I was experiencing. I understand that not every health problem after surgery is necessarily caused by the procedure. However, I expected my surgeon to listen carefully, take my concerns seriously, and explain what I should do next rather than dismissing the possibility of any connection.
