Liposuction to treat cankles + knee complex

4 weeks post op update

WORTH IT$12,500
Heya!

Thought I'd add some pics for my 4 weeks post-op update (technically 4.5 as it's Sunday and I was operated on Thursday). The itch is a little bit better, I did buy some benadryl spray yesterday but what really helped was moisturizing with an anti itch lotion. I had some Lipikar lotion by Laroche Posay (it's their eczema line) which helped, and bought some Eucerin cream, both are gentle and fragrence-free. (I think I like the Lipikar slightly better.)

I attached pics at 3.5 weeks and 4.5 weeks (today) and I think I have slightly more swelling today but I'm also on my period so that might be why.

There's also a pic of the inside of my lower calf where you can see a little bit how textured the skin is. This is where my recovery is taking the longest. I have barely any sensation there, and the skin is super tight still, and sort of painful to the touch (despite the lack of feeling haha). If it wasn't for this part of my legs I would probably call myself mostly recovered. Things take time! I'm hoping that it'll be better at the 6 week mark.

My incisions are still very dark, and the ones on the inner side of my knees are getting a little raised. I know it'll take months for these to settle so I'm not too worried.

Lastly I put a picture of the one thing I haven't been too happy with since day one which is that I think a bit too much fat was taken out of a spot on my left thigh, which has left a dent that's only there on one side. I did mention it to Dr. Su right after the procedure and he told me I can't expect perfect results. Thankfully this is only visible when my legs are bent, not when I'm standing up.

To end on a good note: pretty much all of the dark blue bruising is gone now and with winter sales I'm getting some new clothes to dress my new legs in!

That's it for now!

I think you look great! Thanks for the tip on the lotion. I will try that. I have my son’s old steroid cream from when he had eczema (grew out of it), and I’ve used that, too. The numbness or hardness in lumpy areas is a good sign as it means it’s still more inflamed than the other areas. Dr. Su told me that it was ok to start massaging them. My last PS told me that it helps to prevent scar tissue/collagen or whatever build up. No idea if that’s accurate. Lol! I had a little bit of lipo for fat grafting and had a lot of lumps which took a few months to go away. I also find it interesting that Dr. Su basically shot down your concern with that one area. I had one area of concern, too, and he brushed me off as well. I’m still not sure how I feel about that. I thought one of the main positives of doing this awake was to be able to see the results yourself and in different positions and have an opportunity for correcting areas. He told me that he saw other areas that he could nitpick but that doing more could make it better or worse. Then I got paranoid about the other areas he could nitpick that I didn’t see. Lol
Hello and thank you so much for your incredibly detailed updates. As someone who is seriously considering this procedure they were extremely helpful. I would like to know how you are doing now? I am in my 40s and my legs have always had a tendency to swell up in the heat / after a long day on my feet, so this has made me a little hesitant as I worry I will never get to see the full results (i.e. the look you get right after having the procedure done).
The other thing is, I am based halfway across the world in Asia, so this would be a huge thing for me, if I were to get the green light to go ahead. So any other updates or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

welcome to itch land

Almost three weeks post-op now! I got an email yesterday from one of the nurses saying that I could take the compression garment off now that I was past the 2 week mark. Which I did! I slept without it last night just to feel things out and also because I finally caved and moisturized my legs with lotion. PSA definitely don't do that too early on because the lotion 'dissolved' what was left of the surgical glue and most of my scabs fell off (which is fine in my case because my incisions have had time to heal). So I slept without the garments and I didn't swell more than usual BUT I hated the feeling of my sheets (or anything else for that matter) on my bare legs. Any kind of friction just feels really icky, even though a good portion of my skin is still very much numb. Overall my legs feel better in the garments so I'm planning on wearing it for a few weeks still. Another thing is, my legs have been suuuuper fricking itchy. (This is to be expected and Dr. Su recommends Benadryl spray for that.) The purple bruises on my thighs and feet have faded a lot but my lower calves are still super yellow and the skin is still tight and hard. I can't wait for that part to go away and for my legs to feel normal again!

That's it for today :))

Let us know how the spray works! I read that taking oral antihistamines are recommended, too. I already take Zyrtec, so I'm hoping that will help. I'm looking forward to sleeping without the compression garment...its the little things. lol
I haven't bought the spray yet but if I do I'll let you know!! Also let me know how it goes for you when you take the garments off, it feels nice during the day but when I'm lying in bed there's too much friction for me haha
Lol! I will! I would be willing to just sleep in some leggings if it feels too weird. I just want to bend my legs without this damn garment cutting into the back of my knees while I sleep. Oh, and the open crotch thing moves in some, umm, interesting ways when I’m sleeping. Haha! I’m just glad that any real pain is gone. Swelling was down pretty good this morning. No part of my legs touched from my crotch to my feet, and the big “bubble” of swelling on each outer knee finally sank in. Woot!
Aaahhh I'm happy for you!! The hardest part is behind both of us now!

2 weeks post op!

Long time no post :)

Today was a bit of a weird day. I lost a ton of water weight (weighed 138lbs in the morning and then 134lbs in the evening, so I basically lost half a gallon of water) and the sudden change in size really threw me off. I haven't seen anyone talk about it but seeing your body change so drastically and so fast is weird! I'm just not used to them yet but I'm sure it will come with time.
I've also noticed some contour irregularities in my lower thighs (basically the "transition" area) and I really hope these will smooth out in the next few weeks. Gotta trust the process :)

Other than that, days 8 and 9 post-op I had really bad circulation and got numb toes multiple times but I figured out a hack: lie down, prop my feet up (like against a surface, not just on a couple pillows) and massage my ankles. Sitting down for long periods of time is really my number one enemy. I haven't needed any pain meds since I stopped taking them (after day 4 or 5 I don't remember) and I am really grateful for that. The only "pain" I have is when I get up after sitting down for too long (my knees basically get stuck in a bent position and it takes some time to straighten my legs) and the random zingers I get sometimes (they're very quick). My scabs are also all still there, I'm not sure how long it will take for them so fall off. Oh also my skin is really effing dry wherever the lipo happened. I haven't used lotion or oils yet because of the scabs but I might do it in the coming days because these legs are drier than the Sahara desert.

Can't think of anything else right now, will check back in if any significant changes happen!

Holy cow! You look awesome! Worry not about the irregularities. I had lipo on my outer thigh long ago, and it really does take months for all of the swelling to resolve. Some little areas just had more trauma than others. My PS recommended massaging them, but I can’t remember how far out I was allowed to start. I want to say that it wasn’t for at least a month. Plus the skin had to retract. It will be great!
