WORTH IT$20,000
So, I don’t think that much looks different since it’s 100 degrees out and I am get heat edema. That being said, I am really happy with my right leg, but my left leg is pretty lumpy. I have one dent that is fairly obvious. It’s not obvious in clothes at all, but it is pretty obvious in shorts…at least to me. When I lay down and the light hits my leg right, you can really see it. Dr. Su said that he would gladly do a touch up, but I’m going to wait until it’s cold out so I am not swollen at all from the heat and I can wear long pants to cover whatever compression garment that I will need to wear.
Plus, I take longer to heal than most, so I want to make sure that I give all lumps time to heal. The one I had on my ankle just finally did resolve recently. Even if I couldn’t get a revision, it would still be worth it.

Oh, and my scars are healing so well.
If I'd known ankle lipo was a thing I would have had it done a long time ago based on your results! Lipo is a difficult thing to get perfect, but you're pretty close! Your doctor did a great job.
How are you doing now? Did the lumps smooth out?
No. Dr. Su ks going to do a revision.
How much did you have removed?
I don’t think he gave me a total amount
DId insurance cover ANY of this. Thank you.
Absolutely not. My case wasn’t even close to severe enough for that. It has to really impede your physical functioning (walking, doing normal daily activities) for insurance to cover it. Plus, you usually have to have tried a few months of medical management - which probably included physical therapy….and that’s of insurance will cover it at all.

Slowly but surely - 2 months

Well, so far so good! Swelling reduction definitely slows, as it should. I have a few lumps/bumps, but it’s to be expected. I definitely swell up a bit depending on what I do during the day, especially in the ankles, but nothing that anyone else would really notice. Scars are very flat, which is good, so when they fade, they should hardly be noticeable. The ones on my knees are virtually nonexistent which is shocking. I usually take forever for scars to fade. I think I might have one bump full of some fluid (seroma). Dr. Su said that he would pay to fly me there to see if it is and then drain it. I was like, holy cow! I am going to have a doctor friend here examine first to see if they think it’s fluid before I go to that effort. Even if it is one, they usually resolve eventually. I just mention is because that’s pretty impressive customer service! So far I’m really happy. I just bought a bunch of shorts and skirts in preparation for summer!

You look amazing! Is it me or it looks like the lipo gave you a more hourglass shape? You're legs look really good. So happy for you! :) May I ask how le are you? Thank you
Thank you! I don’t think that I would say my shape is more hour glass since it didn’t affect my outer silhouette from my knees down, but that’s just me. I’m not sure what you wanted to ask due to typo. How old I am? I’m in my 40s.
How are you feeling now? Would you say your 100%? How are the scars?
You look amazing. I feel inspired to book my appointment!
I’m good! Thanks! I would not say 100%. Probably 80?. It’s at least 6 months for swelling to go down completely for any area, but the lower extremities take even longer. I still get a little more swollen if I eat a lot of salt (like Mexican food with margaritas with salt lol). Even swollen I’m way smaller than before the surgery, though. The swelling is not uncomfortable by any means. My scars are healing, but, as I mentioned before, fading takes at least a year for most people. Given my fair skin, I’m usually closer to 2 years. They are very flat, though, so once the color charges, they won’t be noticeable. I’m very happy with the progress!
He did all of that in one surgery?
Yes
Hello and thank you so much for your incredibly detailed updates. As someone who is seriously considering this procedure they were extremely helpful. I would like to know how you are doing now? I am also in my 40s and, like you, my legs have always had a tendency to swell up in the heat / after a long day on my feet, so this has made me a little hesitant as I worry I will never get to see the full results (i.e. the look you get right after having the procedure done).
The other thing is, I am based halfway across the world in Asia, so this would be a huge thing for me, if I were to get the green light to go ahead. So any other updates or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

5 weeks

Not much to report. Rarely wearing compression garment, but I wear snug leggings most days (commando brand are my favorite). Still can feel some additional swelling at the end of some days (a teeny bit of soreness around ankles). Decrease in swelling has definitely swelled. Still most noticeable around ankles. Looked at post op photos, and placed on ankles that were pretty purple right away are taking longer to go down, for sure. Started working out (yoga and spinning). No affects on range of motion. Got compression exercise leggings and haven’t had any major swelling from exercise. Feeling still coming back in some areas. They aren’t totally numb, but not 100%. So, so glad I did this in the winter! Incisions are nice and flat. Will take months to change color, of course.

WoW, look at those legs! You must be really happy! Like a totally different lower body. ;)
Awww! Thank you! I am sooooooo happy!!! Last night I feel asleep thinking of all of the shorts/skirt/dress outfits that I will wear this summer. Lol!
Compression is key for best results
I wore my garments for 3 times his recommended amount and I started wearing compression. knee high socks. According to Dr. Su, your skin is reattached to the facia/muscle by 2 weeks. I’ve seen as long as 3 weeks, After that, the compression garment just helps with swelling but it no longer affects final results. If the skin is not attached the skin by the first few weeks, then you have a seroma and it needs drained and then compression.
So glad you’re satisfied with the results. They’ll continue to improve over the course of a year. I’m looking forward to my upcoming procedures as well.
