For my midlife crisis, rather than buy a sports car, I Took a look in the mirror and decided I should do something for my health. Decades of focusing on my business and putting my wellness on the back burner needed to come to an end.
I started by getting a blood test.
The first thing that stood out was low testosterone. Even though I had no trouble in the bedroom, my testosterone was considered low for my age. The side effects of low testosterone other than the common known issues, are a large midsection of fat (belly and flanks)and reduced arm size. These were two things that I wanted to remedy immediately.
So I started testosterone therapy, I joined a gym with a personal trainerand I began to eat a healthier version of fast casual food.
Within about eight months my body completely changed. My overall weight has stayed pretty consistent within a few pounds, but my body fat went from 34% down to 19%.
Two years later, and my body really hasn’t improved since that eight month mark. I have learned that it is very hard to gain size and muscle at 50 years of age and there are pockets of fat that are impossible to get rid of with diet and exercise. I also have some shoulder injuries from my youth that prevent me from lifting the amount of weight and reps that I need to gain size. I also have excess skin that will never allow me to achieve my goals without surgery.
I made appointments to consult with five different plastic surgeons that specialize in high definition Liposuction.
Dr. Emers facility is levels above the others practices I visited.
He has invested in a “complete process” from beginning to end. No other surgeon I met with even seemed to focus on aftercare. (I think they know how important it is to your final result but they want to keep there prices down. (Maybe to get more clients in the door?). Your surgery is only one day, your aftercare will last several weeks or months so obviously there will be a cost to the people and the technology used to get you the best results and get you healed as quickly as possible. This is why I chose Dr. Emer’s and Dr. Cohen’s facility.
My surgery includes:
Mini tummy tuck, nipple lift/gland removal.
HD liposuction and fat grating.
J-plasma internal skin tightening.
My aftercare includes:
Hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
Manual lymphatic drainage.
IV therapy.
Many presurgery and post surgery supplements.
Scar treatments solutions.
Additional (external) skin tightening.
Double layer compression garments.
My surgery goals are:
Increase arm circumference by at least 1.25” (3.3cm) with fat grafting and create more muscle definition of biceps and triceps. Internal skin tightening?
Increase shoulder “size and width” with fat grafting and create more defined shoulder muscles. Internal skin tightening?
Increase chest size and improve shape with Fat grafting. Remove excess skin and gland tissue. Nipple lift. Internal skin tightening.
Liposuction of flanks to reduce waist and get V taper. Internal skin tightening.
Liposuction abdomen to show muscles and create definition with fat grafting and Internal skin tightening.
Mini tummy tuck to remove excess skin.
Liposuction whole back to create more definition. Internal skin tightening?

$78,000 for lipo is insane. I was thinking about going to him, but certainly scratching him off my list.

Why are you unsure about what you had done?

I am waiting for things to settle which takes time. But I feel that some areas should have been more symmetrical.
It's bad enough that if it doesn't correct itself within six months I'm going to have to do a revision.

I hope that the revision surgery(if needed) is covered by the Dr.
I’ve been looking into Dr. Emer for awhile. I live in British Columbia so I’m not very close by and will have to do a virtual consult. I see that the cost is quite expensive. I certainly hope that things work out for you and that you are completely satisfied. Did he post your results on Instagram or on his website? Your picture looks familiar.
