I Did Not Feel That Daniel Delvecchio Cared for Me Appropriately Once I Left the Surgeon's Table.

I had a lipo procedure completed by Daniel Delvecchio in 2020. In short, I feel I was improperly advised on aftercare garments by his staff and was ignored by the surgeon following the procedure which resulted in a major scar and less than ideal results which I am not happy with.

Prior to the procedure, I was given a small printed package with after care instructions. After surgery, and before leaving the office, the surgeon's assistant and I were going over what to expect over the next few days and how to switch garments. We discussed what was already at home and what I had on currently, which was a pair of legging-style pants. He advised I use a pair of pants similar to the ones that Delvecchio was sending me home, gave me another pair, and said to switch between the two.

Following the procedure not once did I hear from Delvecchio himself. I was in too much pain to express my frustration but this was not how I would have expected to have been treated. In the beginning, my partner at the time would intermittently text the surgeon's assistant a few questions here and there but the surgeon's assistant did not reach out independently to check in which I found awful.

A few days after the procedure, I asked their receptionist (via text) when I should expect to hear from the office to schedule my follow-up. I was concerned about an area in particular that seemed to be forming a scar. I've now learned it's called a lipo burn. She said they normally don't do this due to covid but she would schedule it. She scheduled it and the day before I was to go in and see the doctor, she cancelled saying there was a covid outbreak at the office and that they'd need to reschedule. I asked to do the follow up virtually and there was no response except an auto reply that the office was "closed due to covid". There was no follow up from this office again, no expressed concern for the patient whatsoever.

I should also note this office communicated solely by text. They provide no confirmation receipts for appointments, no electronic reminders whatsoever. The receptionist moved my surgery date three times. Even then, there were no emails confirming as such, nothing other than a text and even then, sometimes there would be a time lag.

Now, I have a significant scar which I am considered excising and unsatisfactory results which I feel were a result of improper communication by this surgeon's office and lack of care. It is the surgeon's responsibility to care for the patient rather than rush surgeries and take too many patients to the point where they cannot follow up appropriately. I can attest that Delvecchio's bed side manners are horrible and he is only polite when you are about 5 minutes away from surgery. All other interactions are derogatory. The only reason I was willing to have surgery with him was because he was in Boston and because I had heard good things from two other friends who had positive results so however they agreed his methods are indeed bizarre. They both however had surgery over four years ago so perhaps he was less busy at that time and with covid, things have impacted his business practices, not to a positive standard. I would advise you go elsewhere. I would be extremely reluctant to return to his table for any sort of revision surgery.
