Happy with Results So Far but Disliked Post Op Care.

WORTH IT$8,700
Height:5’4 Weight:159 PostOp Weight: 152-150 (it fluctuates)

I had Lipo 360 with Dr. Shorikan a little under 3 months ago. It happened pretty quickly, they had a sale going and I booked it, paid for it, and got it done within the week. This includes the in person consultation as well. After booking an initial virtual consultation twice no one called, after another booking or 2 I spoke to someone over the phone, I believe she was a nurse and she was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Same for the in person consultation, it went well too. I did not get to meet my surgeon until the day of but the girl who did my in person consultation (I think her name was Janet or Tati or something) was incredibly helpful and kind. Very professional, and knowledgeable. You will need to have blood work done but at long as you’re relatively healthy that shouldn’t be an issue.

Surgery:

I had local anesthesia and let me say that it hurt like hell. I’ve always considered myself to have high pain tolerance (I’ve fractured a bone and didn’t get surgery for a day and a half thinking it was something small), and that was nothing compared to the Lipo360. It hurts. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Would probably be nothing if under general anesthesia. Just go under, don’t do it to yourself. They gave me Oxys for the pain before surgery and they had me pick it up the day before my surgery to bring into the office. Still hurt like crazy.

First Week Post Op:

The first day post op , going home I didn’t remember anything at all. They said that would be the case but I didn’t believe them, you won’t remember anything. I don’t even recall gettin into or out of the car. It’s like you go to sleep and wake up at home. The first night I didn’t get up except to drink a tiny bit of water and immediately went back to sleep. 2nd day I went for a 5-10 minute walk every waking hour to try and move around to prevent blood clots as they recommend, you will move slowly and the pain will be more like a dull throb, things will pull and it will be uncomfortable but bearable. For the first week my incisions were leaking, and it was messy-I used a pad to cover them and soak up all the fluid but you have to be careful with that because you don’t want any idents on your skin. Went to school and work 2 days after surgery and again moved very very slowly and had to be careful with what I picked up but it was doable( no more than 25 pounds the first month) My job is fairly sedentary for the most part, with occasional movement so I didn’t take any days off from work. First week or 2 was about the same. Week 3 things got a lot more tolerable. Hardly wore the Lipo foams but they are helpful as your nerves wake back up (they reduce the burning feeling near your incisions or at least they did for me).

Massages:

I got my first lymphatic drainage massage the day of and one from my massage therapist the day after surgery, and due to the anesthesia and pain killers I hardly felt it, thank god. The next 10-14 hurt around my sides and back. They will hurt but just breath and you’ll be fine. They recommend a minimum of 10 and a max of 30 or more. Any pain is mainly tightness and feeling very tender, could hardly have my sides or back touched at all the first month. Put aside another 1-2.5k for massages, because they are expensive.

Pain:

Tightness in faja, itchiness on sides and stomach due to healing, difficultly getting out of bed first few weeks. Burning sensation at incisions that last for a few seconds to a minute and they are random but hurt so don’t be surprised.

Month 1 PostOp:

Leading up to the surgery the communication was good but post op the communication was incredibly subpar. I asked for advice directly from Dr. Shorikan a few times and was told I’d be hearing from him and never did, or anyone else for that matter. When I would call the office I’d speak to someone for advice and the receptionist would always try to direct me to my personal care coordinator (who was nice), they’d say she would be in contact but she never actually did except for once. And when they said they would call me in the days/week post op they did not. The products they sell are also pretty expensive, the fajas were like 300 and the scar gel they recommended was also about that much. Find them elsewhere and save money, I found the scar gel for about 160 I think at a spa online.

Month 2:

Half way to month 3 and things are going well, you WILL swell up if you eat too much sodium or fast food. Eat clean as much as you can and avoid anything inflammatory. It is uncomfortable, but wear your faja as 23-24hrs a day if possible because it will help you feel better. Since the 2 month mark I have been going a few hours here and there without my faja and by the time I get back in it I am swollen. It’s very visible and it will feel uncomfortably tight in your faja. I started working out somewhat at about the 1 month mark and have tried to workout at least once a week since then, go on hikes if you can as that helped me a lot. You want to stay hydrated and move around as much as possible. I haven’t been able to do any ab work yet due to scar tissue and all that but that’s fine, (so I was told).

Healing:
So far so good but there is still either some scar tissue or fluid in the my back along the sides, it’s kinda hard but after massages it softens up so I guess just be aware? Buy Arnica pills and rollers , Tylenol, Vitamin D and B-12, collagen powder, biotin and try to get BioFreeze gel for your personal massages to make it through the pain or itchiness, the cooling is very nice. I also recommend wearing camisoles inside out to avoid lines on your skin.

So far it has been a decent experience. I say get a good massage therapist as they will be seeing you the most and they will be essential in your healing process. I like my results so far and I see some abs coming in so I’m excited. Some days you’ll be lean and others you’ll feel puffy and swollen but thus far it has been good and I’m glad I went through with it. Only thing I would change is the post op care I received. I’ll update in another few weeks or so.
