Three Months Before & After
I wish I could say that I’m completely out of the woods when it comes to swelling and tenderness at this point, but alas, that is not the case.
However, things ARE better!
The tenderness is now shins down only and that is also the area of swelling. My legs look fantastic in the mornings (see the pictures!) but as the day progresses they swell and swell to the point that my pants’ legs and socks and shoes even leave indents in them. I also experience a rather unsightly bulge on both inner ankles (right above the bones) which tends to be absolutely rock hard. They are usually gone come morning.
Tomorrow is my first day at the gym without the compression garment. I found it tremendously helpful to wear them while doing CrossFit this past month as they supported my knees and helped keeping the swelling at bay. I’m sure I’ll be fine without them now; but you’ll be the first to know if I’m not. ;)

Two Months Before & After
Happy two months anniversary to me!
Ha!
Let’s see - I’m thrilled to announce that the strange pain in my inner arches when wearing shoes is a thing of the past now. Bring on all the cute peep toe booties!!
Other than this scintillating bit of news, nothing else has changed all that much since two weeks ago. I’m pretty much back to my pre-procedure level when it comes to CrossFit, although I’m still baby’ing my knees somewhat - especially when it comes to squats. I’ve been keeping them pretty shallow and have been avoiding walking lunges. Naturally, I’ve been avoiding any rowing as well but then again I would have gladly done so before too; however, I’ve had to substitute that with the assault bike, which is a cruel and unreasonable punishment if you ask me. Sniff sniff.
My legs are less tender and the area of tenderness has decreased dramatically - now it’s mostly in my lower calves and right atop the knees. The incisions at the ankles, though fully healed, are also somewhat tender, which I believe may be due to the friction caused by the hem of my pants or the ankle booties I wear. I still swell up somewhat post CrossFit and generally during the day but not in a visible way to anyone but my own discerning eyes.
I received a generic post two months email from Dr. Su’s office a few days ago, describing how I should be feeling at this point and inviting me to contact them should I have any questions. I have yet to take them up on their offer. ;)
Would I recommend this procedure and Dr. Su in particular? Sure! As a matter of fact, I’ve been nothing but an awesome unpaid brand evangelist for Dr. Su since my procedure!
Will I put a “thumbs up” next to my review? Not sure yet - shall hold on to my “uncertain” status for a bit longer like some jilted Roman empress at a Gladiator arena for now. Ha!
Cheers for now!

Week Three of CrossFit
Where does the time go? After figuring out that I still need my compression pantyhose while working out, CrossFit and lifting in general have been much more enjoyable. I have been attending the gym three times a week and am planning to add an additional session this week. Still working out at about 75% of my RM weights but anything is better than nothing and I don't want to set my healing back by being too prideful when lifting. ;)
I spent the weekend in Hamptons and went swimming, hiking, and paddle boarding without any problems. My lower legs are still somewhat tender to the touch but I can now cross my legs at the ankles/shins and not experience any discomfort. When sleeping on the side, my inner knees aren't as tender anymore either.
I do experience quite a bit of discomfort in my inner arches when wearing shoes though - any kind of footwear, really, but walking barefoot doesn't trigger this odd pain. Shall monitor this and keep you all posted.
I wore skinny jeans today and my legs looked awesome in them. In general, although I am aware that my legs are still swollen (since they're still tender,) I don't necessarily see any overtly visible swelling; but right now, as I was changing into gym clothes, I noticed that the bottom of my pant legs had cut into my clearly swollen ankles! Imagine that! I used to wear these skinny jeans all the time and I never experienced this in the past. Another sign that my legs are far from being fully healed.
Patience is a virtue. Patience is a virtue. Patience is a virtue...
