Forehead Bump (Lipoma) Removal
I've had a forehead bump/lipoma most my life. Most times people don't notice but if there is a light source coming in from a side angle, my bump will cast shadow. This usually causes people to say "oh wow what happened to your head?!" and I have to explain over and over again it's not a pimple/injury/etc.
Decided to see if insurance would cover having it removed and they will. Removal is in two days from this post. Will update!

Lipoma Removed
My lipoma has been removed. This lipoma developed shortly after a head injury when I was young. My doctor confirmed it was from an injury because unfortunately the base of the lipoma was rooted into the muscle a bit. A small fraction of muscle was removed along with the lipoma. I got disposable stitches.
I have some numbness (from nerves being frayed, shouldn’t be permanent) and a tiny bit of eyebrow paralysis (also shouldn’t be permanent). I can’t “furrow” my brow too much, very similar to when you get Botox for the eyebrow lines. I have full sensation there though, it’s above my incisions (about half an inch above to my scalp) that I have numbness. I attached a photo of the nerves of a humans forehead. As you will see, my lipoma/injury was right in the vital spot.
It reminds me of my breast reduction. It took 6 weeks for my nerves to heal from that procedure. I will update on this one.

Update- Healing Well
I’d like to amend my last update. I said the numbness/paralysis was from a “frayed” nerve but I found out it could be as simple as an irritated nerve from being pushed aside and the swelling. Apparently about 90% of forehead lipomas are below the forehead muscles. When excising a lipoma, these muscles (and any nerves) are pulled/pushed aside. This alone can cause temporary (from days to months) nerve side effects.
Thanks to RealSelf as well, there are SO MANY member questions asking about these (apparently) common issues; scalp numbness, swelling, minor eyebrow paralysis.
So that was great to learn. As for my personal experience, my stitches look great (dissolvable) . Still a bit of swelling, some minor black eyes from the blood starting to drain down.
I’m keeping my stitches covered with Vaseline and a bandage. Going smooth.
