warning: keep dr. yadro ducic away from your lips. he has butchered mine! twice!
After two surgeries in the span of over a year by Dr. Yadranko Ducic, I sit here with two aggressive lines of rock hard scare tissue. One scar tissue line on the inside of my mouth...and one scar tissue line visibly exposed on the OUTSIDE of my lip line, both on my bottom lip. My lips are visibly deformed now. And to make matter worse at the same time I had him "fix" a small scar on my upper lip (very minimal surgery ), and he even managed to make that far worse.
Its more than likely that I was basically a guinea pig for Dr. Ducic, and he probably has very limited to no experience performing surgery on lips (other than maybe lip injections). I wish I would have known that before hand. Could have avoided this nightmare.
Twice he told me that the scare tissue would go down in close to a years time. Thats the reason why I waited so long to write this review, to be clear that there were no more excuses he could make.
Overall the nurses were nice, and even Dr. Ducic himself is a nice guy. But at the time of my first surgery with Ducic in 2017, the system they had up there in the office he works was bad in regards to communication. It was even a hassle for me to pay THEM. And to make matters worse yet again, they ended up "accidentally" charging me double. After some time I was able to get a partial refund for what I was overcharged, but come on...
Overall TERRIBLE experience, especially in regards to the surgeries. He has made this humiliating issue for for me far worse.

FIRST SURGERY:
In mid 2017 I went to Dr. Ducic to help with an issue that stemmed from a rare artery issue that I had in my cheek and lips that left the right part of my bottom lip with hypopigmentation(color loss). I went to Dr. Ducic to see if here was any way to mask or get rid of the hypopigmentation, even if I couldn't hide it completely. So I asked him if a skin graft, excision surgery, lip reduction, etc were options. He said my best bet would be lip reduction/advancement flap surgery and he showed me how he would do it and that I could expect around a 70% improvement in hiding the hypopigmentation. So thats what I ended up going with. From there it was down hill...
I never had elective surgery before but I knew I could save some money with local anesthesia, so I asked for that. But he kind of blew me off both times I asked so I didn't sweat it. But after the first surgery I would later find out that was a big mistake. Having this surgery at the hospital would end up costing me an ADDITIONAL $1400. Absolutely ridiculous.
So the morning of the first surgery I am laying in the prep room in the hospital talking to the nurses and staff. And I hear Dr. Ducic come in behind the curtain talking to who I believe was his resident/attending? physician, then he leaves and the resident comes in and talks to me. I ask him and the nurses if I will be able to see and talk to Dr. Ducic before the surgery and they said absolutely.
So I get rolled into the operating room..then I wake up and the surgery was done. I soon notice that I had a long line of scare tissue behind my lips but thats it. No change in the rest of my lip at all. No reduction of the lip AT ALL. No hiding of the hypopigmented part of my bottom lip in the least(the entire point of the surgery). Thats when it hit me that I had already had the surgery and it WAS NOT THE SURGERY HE DISCRIBED HE WOULD DO. And not only that, I DID NOT SEE DR DUCIC BEFORE OR AFTER MY SURGERY. I have never heard of this happening. Who doesn't get to speak to their surgeon before an elected surgery? I was gutted on multiple fronts. Wrong surgery, and I didn't even get to consult with the Dr. performing surgery on me. He was already gone by the time I had woken up. Then after seeing him about two week later I could tell he knew he messed up but he didn't want to admit it. There was literally no visible change in my lips, and the scar tissue felt like it was even worse the longer away from the surgery. He kept telling me the scar tissue would go down but it never did. And the small gash/scar revision on my upper mid lips was FAR worse than what it was before. Him screwing up such a simple surgery let me know that he probably never performed surgery on lips before. He also said that he would perform a another surgery (again, he knew he messed up but I guess for legal purposes he never came out and admitted it). He said I would have to wait for the healing to be complete before the next surgery.
So at this point I am out of thousands of dollars and my lips are worse than what they were when I first saw him. But I was desperate and didn't have the money to see anyone else so I agreed to the second surgery. But I would have to wait to heal up.
SECOND SURGERY:
Fast forward to the beginning of 2019. This time he "volunteered" to do it under local anesthesia like it was his idea from the beginning. And we go through another game plan of what he was going to do. And like he always does, unprompted, he tells me how important it is not to have the suture line outside the lip line lip line. Which would later turn out to be ironic. (NOTE: before the first surgery, the way he described "scarring" made it seem like it was purely visual and NOT actual rock hard scar tissue). So the night of the surgery, he brings me to the room and shoots my lip up with numbing. I am waiting in the room, and don't mind waiting since I expect him to take his time with his other patients like I expected to take his time with me. So I am not complaining about waiting over an hour after being numbed. The problem was the numbing was starting to wear off. He finally comes in and I let him know, but he kind of brushes me off. I have a high pain tolerance so I don't push the issue.
So after about 25-30 minutes the surgery is over. During the middle of the surgery the pain started to get pretty intense. Again I have a high pain tolerance but damn. I think he should have numbed me again since the wait was so long. But after the surgery I immediately notice that the suture line was ENTIRELY on the OUTSIDE of my lip line, visually exposed. And to make matters worse some of the sutures were already opening. He said that it wasn't on the outside of my lip line and that after the swelling goes down it would be on the inside of my mouth. Fast forward to over 10 months months after the second surgery and NOTHING he said was accurate. The scar tissue that was on the outside of my lip line was even harder and more aggressive than the line the scar tissue on the inside of my bottom lip during the first surgery. AND AFTER THE SECOND SURGERY ONCE AGAIN..NO REDUCTION AT ALL.
My lips are now visibly mangled and deformed. My lips now feel absolutely disgusting and uncomfortable with the rock hard scar tissue everywhere.
Absolute butcher job.
So now I sit here with two massive lines of scare tissue inside my mouth and now one on the outside of my lip line on my bottom lips. And the center of my middle lip looks deformed as well. I went to Dr. Ducic to help with an issue that has been humiliating for me for a long time, but he has made things far far worse on so many different levels.
I have never sued anyone in my life, but as I sit here out of thousands of dollars and deformed lips thanks to Dr. Ducic its hard for me to justify not going through with it. I don't think he meant to do this. But if he didn't know what he was doing he should have just said he didn't have experience in this area. I had to learn the hard way, that just because a Dr. might be good in some areas does not mean they are good in ALL areas. I hope everyone that reads this understands this as well when choosing their Drs.
All this experience was Dr. Ducic has done for me is greatly add onto the embarrassment and humiliation I feel everyday about my lips. So now I have to spend thousands find someone to help me fix what Dr. Ducic has done to me.
Im sure Dr. Ducic is good at other things, but if you need a dr to help you with an issue regarding your lips, STAY AWAY from Dr. Ducic...
