Beauty Comes with a PRICE

This review is not to deter anyone from getting a lip lift. I love my new lip shape then before 100%. But this has come with a price. I apparently had a reaction the under base suture monocryl for reference. I am a surgical technician and see many and all kinds of plastic procedures. Monocryl is a monofilament suture almost looks like a fishing line. Anyways this is not the surgeons fault. I had a reaction to it which caused severe inflammation, redness and dehiscence. Currently I am 3 weeks post op at this time there is nothing to be done. It’s wait and see game. The edges at the nostril base have come together but they look raised hard and uneven. And because of the collagen production to induce healing. One of my nostril is distorted ugh. What my Dr did is inject the scar with Kenalog to hopefully slow down the scarring. I started to use silicon scar gel with the strips. I massage with Vit E oil. I’m going to also start putting natural aloe Vera on the scar area and massage the scar. I’m 47 I don’t regret my decision to do this. It’s going to take a long time for the scar to flatten out and the tightness to go away. I don’t smoke am an occasional wine here and there. I never expected this after complication. What ever I need scar revision, injections etc…. It’s on my Drs expense and she has reassured me we will work on this till it’s right. I’m hopeful and I think it will all be great in the long end!!!! This procedure is “Enter at your own Risk” for sure. Sometimes the surgeon is at fault and others it’s just nature.

All is the same it has t gotten worse no better. My incision is very hard and stiff. I massage aggressive everyday. I tried to open the abscess by my nostril. There is a suture that is trying to coke out and it can’t. So it keep making a big knot on my skin from the foreign body (suture) it’s so annoying!!! It has gotten me in a sad almost panicked mood . You guys all understand those moments. I go see my Dr next Monday and I’m always excited to see her. To see what can be down for improvement or change. Most likely it will be the same thing wait and see since it’s still only 4 weeks. I put makeup on today to feel somewhat pretty and normal. Still getting used to the new look. I don’t know what changed my nose or lip or all together that makes me look cleft lipped omg

Surgicaltech75March 1, 2023
I’m 7 weeks post op. I have a bad case of suture granuloma. I’m other words I’m having a bad reaction to the monocryl. It’s time and patience from here on out. And it totally sucks!!! However my Dr and I are working closely together on it.

Did you have dissolvable sutures? Lots of people have reactions to them. If I have a choice I always ask for removable sutures?
March 26, 2023
Yes I did for the deep layer monocryl to be exact it’s a monofilament type and our bodies is suppose to breakdown in most cases. I’m one of the few that my body reacted to it as a foreign body. But, it’s much better. You will always need a deep layer suture. However, the skin closure suture will be removable.

You cannot have removable sutures for the deep fixations as that would require opening up the face again

It is still a beautiful result! Who was your surgeon please/

Hi, thank you. It’s much better now. My Dr is from Houston. Her name is Regina Rodman. And I want to say that what happened to me was completely unexpected. It’s not usual to have this kind of reaction to monocryl material. Look her up. Her website is FaceFoward in Houston.

You didn’t need a lip lift. Most young women don’t need this not worth the risk
March 27, 2023
I was thinking that too. There seems to be a lot of patients I see before and after pics of, that have a nicely balanced face/lip ratio and that did not need a lip lift at all. It is a trendy procedure it seems, not without risks

Awe you are kind. Almost every one around me said the same. I didn’t need it. Unfortunately I’ve disliked my top lip since a kid. And the mole as well. Things are coming around slowly but surely for me. You are correct with the risks it brings better to think twice about it. I had a long lip and so I’m still able to close my mouth completely.

I have the same. 7 weeks after. Although my scar looks worse. The wound spread on both sides. Soluble threads - I think I'm allergic! And the worst thing is that I have a mouth like a rabbit - stretched upper lip. I mentally sit down.

I know the headache you are going through and stress. I hope your Dr is working closely with you to treat the dehiscence. Start massaging gently to get the tightness to flatten out. Use fresh aloe vera the yoke is manic for cuts wounds etc…. I used it in the beginning.

Unfortunately, my doctor does not reassure me. Despite the assurances, he probably does not have much experience in this procedure. The results frustrate him. My questions frustrate him. I feel like he'd rather not see me. I'm going to a new surgeon today.

Let me know how your consult goes. I totally care and feel you. Don’t lose hope. Do you have pictures posted?

The consultation with the new surgeon was about healing and scarring. He told me to put down the strong antibiotic ointment. I did not post photos. My plastic surgeon is not responding to messages. Actually, all I have to do is take care of the scar, then the laser, and in the meantime wait for the swelling to pass. There are days when I look better, but yesterday again I had an unnatural expression on my face and a mouth under my nose. I bought silicone cream and silicone patches. Do you think it's a good idea to use silicone patches at night?
April 2, 2023
Yes but good luck on them staying put. I must roll around and turn at night. The patches fall off I find them on my blankets instead my face I started to use the scar gel instead. I do wear the sheets during the day when I’m off. And yes you are right. Some days it looks great and others it’s puffy, hard and tight. I massage extra deep and hard. How many weeks are you post?
