Revision- Scar Very Noticeable and Can’t Be Covered Up with Makeup

UPDATED FROM Makebeautiful

I’m happy now

I have had multiple steroid shots at my follow up appointments and they have helped at smoothing out the dent. I do not wear any makeup and I am no longer embarrassed to go out in public. It has healed quite nicely after all I have went through. I don’t think it has anything to do with the surgeon’s technique but I have self diagnosed myself with a connective tissue disorder EDS which causes scars similar to mine.

1 month- my face is ruined

The scar hasn’t changed at all. It’s a deep cut and very purple. I’ve been applying pressure like my surgeon recommended. I’m hoping this will soften it over time but I think it’s making it more purple and red. The scar gels not helping. This is worst case scenario. I really hope people can see this and be warned. The surgeon could have at least TRIED to hide the scar on the left side by curving it under my nostril but he made an easy straight cut out of laziness. I am healing WORSE than the first LL. I looked back at old photos and it is definitely worse. I can’t believe that this is my life now. I have to wear a mask at work. I am the only one still wearing a mask. I am mortified at my disfigured face. I can’t believe I am the <1% that has complications with healing.

hello did you try silicone gel?
Can you please share your surgeon? The actual lip is beautiful. Maybe that is how your scar? So sorry. I tend to have dented scars too and am not sure if there is anything that can be done to avoid it. Dermabrasion perhaps?
i did lots of research because i actually have a dented scar too, not everywhere, mostly in my nostril which looks very bad..i had the surgery almost 3 weeks ago..silicone gel actually stops collagen production! most people don't know this!! i bought raw hyalouronic acid, elastin, matrixyl 3000 and marine collagen, these can help with collagen production!! i bought them from a shop that sells to other shops so they create creams etc but i use some of them on my face for wrinkles and they work veyr well!! they will promote collagen production and help!! or you can use creams with collagen, peptides, vitamin c !! just creams that help with collagen production. however. silicon gel might still help you because it will flatten it. my dented scar is on my nasal sill..so i need it back not flattened lol. laser will help you too!! don't lose hope:)
my scar is literaly exactly!! like urs!! 2 months post op..im so sorry :'( i cry every day,how is it now?
its strainge because mine didn't look like that in the beginning except nasal sills so not sure what happened. I'm just so sad
It is a pity you had not stopped at your first lip lift as it was pretty good. I can't understand why the surgeon was so slack with the second one. Can you share who it was please? You can private msg me

2 week update: Can’t be seen in public with this scar

The scar is indented and dark purple. It is very obvious even with heavy pigmented makeup that I’ve had work done. I will have to wear a mask for work. When going out in public, I stay away from people and look down. So much for a scar that is “barely perceptible”, “easily hidden under the nose” and “can be easily covered with makeup”. Surgeons need to be more transparent about the risks of permanent, noticeable scarring. I knew the recovery would be rough but I am so embarrassed. Three years ago when I first had this done nobody really knew about lip lifts. Now they are becoming more popular so it is obvious what I had done. I can’t make up some excuse like I got attacked by a dog and needed reconstructive surgery. There has to be something that can be done to smooth the dent but I doubt it.

Say you have a had a rhinoplasty due to breathing problems. Keep thin tape on under your nose. Can you share the name of your surgeon (you can PM me if you like) as I get the same indenting problem with scars. There must be a solution
I’ve already had 3 rhinoplasties so I don’t think I can use that as an excuse anymore! I just hate how my skin heals. Why can’t I have a normal flat scar like everyone else?
