Office review - reassuring during the healing process

ORIGINAL POST

Very Pleased at 4-5 Months

WORTH IT
I looked awful the first couple of months but love the result now, at 4-5 months post-op. The doctor and staff patiently answered all my questions and were reassuring during the healing process. Very impressed with this doctor and his staff.

Your results look amazing! I'd love to know more about the recovery process if you're okay with sharing :)

Hi Jovanah and thank you.:) Before undergoing the procedure, I believed time to my final result would be measured in weeks, not months. For the first couple of months my upper lip remained quite swollen. One side of my lip was higher than the other and the internal stitches created bumps around the base and sides of my nose. I also had a bunny look to my lips. There was no hiding that something was done and I was concerned that I may not look normal again. I also had trouble pronouncing some words and my front teeth were perpetually dry (especially at night) from not being able to comfortably close my lips. By the third month my lip dropped and swelling had subsided. I could keep my lips closed. The staff patiently responded to my concerns and as they predicted, my lip dropped, the bumps are hardly noticeable anymore and I can speak properly. My scar has faded significantly and I attribute part of this improvement to silicon sheets (that I cut into thin strips), applied everyday for about three months (12+ hours a day). I found them on Amazon.

I've heard those silicon sheets are miracle workers! Thank you so much for sharing!

I am comforted by what I read because I too look like a bunny at 7 weeks. Thanks to you, I believed that maybe it would get better. The wound is not healing well. I really regret the surgery.
I'm glad I could help. I was told that it can take time for the internal stitches to dissolve. While I waited for this to happen, I really had to focus on other things to stay happy and relaxed. It wasn't always easy. I wish you the best.
Exactly. There are days when I cry (especially after unpleasant comments) but I try to focus on the good things. And your story is a great consolation, although I don't see a change yet. I wish the upper lip would fall down and look more natural. I have a lot of contact with people. I wanted a subtle change and wasn't ready for all the complications. Have a good day!
Hi sweetie be patient everyone heals differently. I’m 2 months post and things are slowly coming along. Massage with Vit E and use the scar gel or sheets. Give it time. All cosmetic procedures will be ugly before the result comes through positive vibes your way!!!
Thank you for the good word. You know how much it is needed from someone who is going through the same thing

can you tell me what you mean when you say you looked awful for months? how? did you also have to hide your face?
No I didn't have to hide my face. It was obvious that I had something done. My philtrum length was under 1cm in the first few months, so my features looked unbalanced and squished together. The scar was very noticeable and we could see bumps around my nose where there were internal stitches. Also I had bunny lips. After my lip dropped, the internal stitches dissolved, and the scar faded, I was very happy with the result.
