Horrible Scar

Horrible Scar

My lips looked great right after the procedure and I was excited to see the healed version. That was day 1. Day 2-5 were so scary and my top lip looked like it had been stung by a bee 80 times. I couldn’t close my mouth or eat properly. I had been given no warning about what the healing process would look like other than “it’ll swell a bit and maybe some bruising”. It swelled IMMENSELY and I had a huge black lip on one side from blood. I also got impetigo infection I guess because I couldn’t close my mouth? Unsure. When I called my doctor kind of scared on day 4, he didn’t ask for pictures or anything, he just said swelling is normal. I had to diagnose and treat the impetigo myself bc he seemed like I was inconveniencing him on his Sunday evening and so I just figured it out myself.

Anyway… got the stitches out and I assumed everything was normal bc the assistants said it looked fine. Side note: she left 2 pieces of stitching in….. I had to pull one out myself with tweezers and the other piece had skin grown over it so it literally just sat in my skin for 2 years until I dug it out myself bc I was tired of having a blue dot under my skin.

Fast forward to two years later… I’ve had 4 micro needling treatments for the raised and bumpy scar and laser treatments for the redness of the scar. My scar is still so noticeable and I have traintracking and hypopigmentation so it looks like I have a white mustache at all times. Can’t go anywhere without wearing a bunch of makeup over it which makes swimming impossible.

I’m still not sure if this was an issue with my doctor or if this kind of scarring is common with lip lifts. Either way it has shot my self confidence so low bc I feel like people are staring at my scar when they’re talking to me.

So yeah, I now have a top lip which is great. I didn’t have one before. But now I have a whole other issue on my face that I’m not sure how to fix. I’m currently getting scar camouflage tattoo over my scar so hopefully that helps but it’s so expensive and takes 3+ monthly treatments. My scar camouflage lady said she has so many clients come in for lip lift scars so I guess this happens a lot.
