This Doctor is an Expert with Lips

Where to begin, I always had small lips but as I aged my lips would basically disappear whenever my mouth moved or I smiled. I researched heavily for a permanent solution as I didn't want to keep doing fillers and also found fillers gave a very noticeable rigid appearance. I looked into procedures and found the V-Y Lip Plasty and realized there were a handful of doctors in the world prescribing this as a solution. After seeing a video of Dr Abu-Sittah explaining why he prefers this approach over the typical lip lift I knew that I wanted to go with him over other doctors. His subtle approach to making sure there's a marked improvement while at the same time making sure it feels natural for the face was exactly what I was after. After an initial consult over webcam where we discussed my goals, I communicated back and forth with his secretary and flew to London from Canada to have it done.

The procedure itself was not very long and the only painful part was the actual injections to numb the lips but that was totally tolerable. The doctor and his assistant worked together like they were one mind without ever really speaking, you could tell this was second nature to them by now. Once it was over the assistant literally accompanied me to the pharmacy to make sure I was taken care of with my prescriptions for post-op recovery. Dr Abu-Sittah explained to me post-op instructions very clearly and answered all of my questions (and let me tell you I had many) before leaving us. The first week is quite brutal, to say the least. You are in pain, completely swollen and numb and it is difficult to talk, eat and sleep. My swelling/pain was still quite present on the 6th day but from that point on it started to subside and now I am almost 3 weeks out with quite minimal swelling and which will take longer to dissipate. The pain is also gone now. During my recovery, the doctor has been available to discuss any concerns I've had and comforted me when I needed reassurance about what was normal during the recovery process. His bedside manner truly sets him apart, he has really been there for me since I left to go back home from the UK. An incredible doctor yes, but also someone you can see actually see cares for others.

I want to leave it on this final note. I absolutely love how my lips look now. They have more volume but not so much that it looks bizarre on my face, they look like they have always been my lips and this isn't even the final result yet. I'm only 3 weeks out. Understand that this procedure, despite being not relatively long, isn't one without real risks when compared to the traditional lip lift or fillers. The procedure involves rearranging muscle flaps in the mouth and doing this could possibly lead to asymmetry, nerve damage, etc. That is why I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH going with someone like Dr Abu-Sittah who literally has done thousands of lip surgeries of all shapes and sizes (both cosmetically and in trauma ERs) and is truly an expert when it comes to lip anatomy and avoiding these potential risks.

I would give this doctor 10 stars if I could. If you are based in another country and are looking to have this done, fly to the United Kingdom and see Dr Abu-Sittah, I guarantee you will not be in better hands elsewhere, no matter the pros and cons that come with going out of country.

Cheers!
