2 months post-op

Swelling is pretty much gone, incision is red but not raised. Easily covered with makeup. I believe it will look even better at the 3-month mark. Upper lip is measuring around 15mm (originally 22mm), so I don’t think it “dropped” much from last month. But I’m happy with how much the doctor took off and very happy with my decision to do a lip lift!

Post op day 28

Philtrum started out at 22mm!! :O The doctor said I would end up with 16-17mm. However it is currently measuring around 15mm and I feel like it will drop a little bit more with time.

Scar is healing nicely, barely noticeable with makeup on. The incision feels flat, with only the center a bit stiff and more sensitive than the rest of the area.

Main concern now is my smile. Can’t smile normal, it looks bunched up on the sides of my nostrils, and upper lip muscle still not back to normal. Someone called it “whiskers”.. hope all goes back to normal soon. Will continue to use silicone strips/gel, spf, and gentle massaging.

Today was the first day i started to feel like I look normal-ish. To be honest, there are moments I’ve wondered “did I just mess up my face?!” Still getting used to my new look and giving it the full three months to heal.

Last night was the first time I applied silicone sheets. I left it on for about 10 hrs. It seemed to help the redness and kept the overnight swelling down. My main concern is the puffiness right under the incision. I’m sure this will go down with time but I’m also worried that it might not due to my anatomy. My upper lip muscle was already pretty thick to begin with, so the lip lift only brought that thickness up. Time will tell..

So far, I’m pretty content with the scar. My right nostril has a slightly wider scar area that I think was due to being irritated by the stitch. Hopefully that will soften and heal well.

The area is still tight and I’m cautious about not opening my mouth too wide. I still can’t smile normal. The itchiness feels like thin hairs or lint tickling your nostril and tapping the area doesn’t really help.

I can’t say that I’m fully in love with my new look yet, but I’m trusting the process. **fingers crossed**
