I'm Blown Away

WORTH IT
I've been putting this review off because there are so MANY WORDS and they are all Great So if you want to know if Dr Pearson is a great Dr with great results, the answer to both is YES. Just make your appointment. If you want the history of how I ended up choosing and forever grateful that I ended up with Dr Pearson for a lip lift and dermabrasion (and a fabulous neck lift and scar revision and more) you might want to read my backstory -So here we go
In 2005 with a highly regarded and great Doctor I got a facelift, neck lift and chin implant. The results were amazing (outside of my neck which also did not take well to a revision around 2010 but that is another story for another review because Dr Pearson fixed that too!!!)
My profile was changed dramatically in 2005--100 percent improvement, and my confidence soared that much too. But there was still something about my face that I did not like, I could not figure it out. I had a thin top lip and HORRIBLE sun damage and smokers’ lines. Duck lips were the rage when I wanted to correct that thin upper lip, but I did not like that popular (what were we thinking?? ) look, so instead my Dr at the time, offered to give me filler in my vertical lip lines. Made a good difference but it was painful, expensive (hello dental block)and had a short shelf life and after those, Still, something was off.
A few years ago I started putting my face up against those “golden ratio” beauty charts which is never a good idea, btw. Ha! I knew I had a high forehead but also knew that that was not what was dragging my face down. When I pulled out a measuring tape I was SHOCKED at my lip to nose measurement. It was at least TWICE as long, as it was on those unattainable perfect faces. I was DOOMED. I felt defeated. I scoured Real Self to see if there was anything I could do and came up with nothing there were NO pictures. I did not even know it had a name. Subsequently I found it was called a lip lift, but there was just little to no info.
Fast forward to 2020-I had endless peels and other treatments over the years on my face, lip included and recently 4 rounds of fractal laser performed at a great clinic by a tech, not a Dr. it Made a difference, but again not a GREAT difference-and it was EXPENSIVE and required multiple treatments for skin as bad as mine. The area around my lips (and eyes, which a tech cannot touch) was just getting worse.
I decided to check on this once far fetched “lip lift” Here on RealSelf and at some point there had been an explosion in interest, and reviews, and PICTURES!!! Three Drs caught my eye-but Dr Pearson’s Hermosa Beach office was practically next door to me. What was I waiting for? I sat at home for a couple of days lifting my lip myself which only resulted in me looking like a rabbit—I was SURE I was not a candidate. This distance I was sporting on my face had to be too much to conquer for ANY doctor. Plus these deep wrinkles running from my lip to my nose were only going to get pulled up should I actually get one of these lip lifts—how the heck would THIS be a solution?
Well then, I met Dr Pearson. What a good guy. He lifted my center lip with a q-tip, just like I did at home, and I almost cried—looked exactly the same as my at home trials. Sigh, this was not going to work for me, I knew it. ‘Don’t worry” he said, “we can also do a corner lift”. A CORNER lift? This was news to me—a WHAT? He told me about the incision he would make on about the third outer part of both sides of my upper lip, (the term “corner” lift is a bit misleading) remove some skin in that area, stitch me up and BANG ON , entire lift, not just the center. In fairness he did not say Bang On.
He NEVER rushed me out of that office, “what else are you thinking” “what are your other questions” and he answered every one of them, which sparked others. Truly a gift during a free consultation, right? Still-It sounded like it was all a bit much and a lot of scars, and a needed a couple of days for my obsession to pass. I went home and studied his website and I looked at his pics on Real Self—blew them up as large as I could. these corner lifts? Why did I see no scars? Why? Where are they? So I went back to see him the next week—”Ok”, I asked him, “what about this wrinkle situation I have on my lip, what can we do about these?” His answer again, simple—"Dermabrasion". Do not confuse dermabrasion with MICRO dermabrasion, which is really good at brightening your skin, but true Dermabrasion is only done by a doctor. And mine in conjunction with the lip lift and corner lift is GAME CHANGER. WOW. I am just speechless. The whole process with Dr Pearson could not have been better, he even offered to biopsy something my dermatologist was watching. It ended up being cancer and just last week Dr Pearson reconstructed THAT area the same day as my Dermatologist removed it via MOHS.. My timing was perfect because he is an incredible surgeon and the reconstruction is unbelievable, I knew that because he also reconstructed another scar from a previous cancer on my nose at the time of the lip lift.
Since after a liplift there are stitches under the nose, and in my case right at my top lip, every other area around my mouth area was treated with Dermabrasion at the lip lift surgery time and the results are like nothing I have even experienced, and I have experienced it ALL. Peels, masks, fractals, creams, lotions, Retin a etc etc etc. Why did not one Doctor or medical technician ever mention this treatment over the last 10 years? During my recovery I had one exaggerated area of what looked like a wrinkle gone wild and swelling right under my nose—and although I had, in my mind accepted it as a tradeoff, Dr Pearson hit me with JUST the right tiny amount of steroid and it was gone within days (he did the same on my neck lift he preformed which no other doctor had done through my swelling ordeals TWICE before) Just last week just did dermabrasion under my nose, where the wrinkles lived under the stitches and although I truly never saw a scar at the corner lift, and only the thinnest of lines under my nose, so so easy to camouflage and I am sure no one ever would have noticed it but we did it both places so there is barely a trace of scars at all.
But wait—there’s more. After the dermabrasion success around my mouth, I really wanted to do something about the skin around my eyes , which I inherited from my father and made worse by California sun and smoking. It has lived around my eyes since I was in the 7th grade, and ignored and avoided by anyone who ever gave me fractal laser It is SO MUCH IMPROVED by the C02 laser he treated me with. Dramatic change. Again, why are other doctors keeping this miracle treatment a secret? It’s amazing
I hope that I can post photos in the near future as right now my nose is still healing and a bit swollen from the cancer removal and reconstruction just 7 days ago, but even now I cannot believe not just how great it ALL looks, but just how great I feel. Each time my downtime has been just 7 days, but with a mask on, I was out of the house within 4. In the long term, that time was next to NOTHING.
I HIGHLY recommend Dr Pearson, MAXIMUM stars and I don’t know if it was medical school, instinct, magic or a combination of things, but his practice, which is concentrated around the face and neck, his expertise made this entire experience easier than I could have imagined. It’s not pretty for a few days but his phone calls, texts, check ins and follow ups and UNDIVIDED TIME to make sure you are as comfortable physically and emotionally is such a plus on top of his consummate skills as a surgeon. very caring, very warm and processional. A HUGE payoff so quickly after years and years of obsessing about this lip thing and skin thing, it is ALL behind me now. Thank you Dr Pearson.

Was it a long wait to get in with him for surgery? How is the recovery process for your lip lift! Thanks for sharing your experience ❤️
I think i saw him for a consult in late August and I had to find a good time for a week of downtime for me. I saw him for Surgery October 23. So it was less than 8 weeks and I think it could have been done sooner. He can do the lip lift in the office in very little time. It's really cool and fast! The recovery was really simple! The hardest part was the dermabrasion--it's ugly, and with all the aquafor it's MESSY!! Lol.I was so so thankful for masks! Two weeks today from my second dermabrasion and the laser around the eye, and I did a zoom mid week. The biggest issue right now has been the cancer reconstruction which was extensive. Originally it looked like a bullet hole. It's healing nicely. With mineral makeup to hide the pinkness of the skin treatments, there are No signs of any other procedures today!
Thank you for the information:)
You provided a wonderful review. I am hoping to have a lower face lift and brow lift with Dr. Pearson in June. Now I'm wondering about my lips. Could you please provide photos?
Thank you so much.
Drop me a line and I’ll inbox you some!
Did you have any redness around the lip lift incision? I was really red for months. Thank you for posting your review.
Very very little! It was more noticeable around the side edges of my nose but the corner lift was really amazing. So so hard to see any scars/incisions once he took the stitches out!
Hi I just had a consult..I am definitely doing the neck and lower face..I wanted to know of your skin lightened with the dermabrasion and the scars from it all..I sure wish I could see photos..I am definitely going to post photos for people to see..Thank you
No permanent color change that i notice. I did have redness from the dermabrasion which took a good 10 weeks to go away ( which is normal) but nothing that could not be hidden with make up.
