Not the result I was going for - lumpy and uneven lips

Lumpy Lip Filler

I went to Dr. Kim for lip filler to correct some asymmetry and the results were very lumpy. I got a few other areas done so I’ll provide my full experience.

I scheduled a consultation to discuss filler for my lips, tear troughs, and tinkerbell nose tip, as well as Botox for my forehead and crows feet. At the end of my chat with Dr. Kim I felt pressured to do the procedures on the spot, it was something like “should we get started?” and I was just expecting a consultation.

We numbed the areas with ice and numbing cream (I forget specifically which areas got the cream) and start with Botox. I felt nauseous after the first few injections because I really hadn’t eaten that morning since I wasn’t expecting to do the procedures that day. So we stopped for a bit and the receptionist got me something to eat, which was very nice. However, I did feel pressured to continue with the rest of the work even though I wasn’t feeling great. We get through the rest of the Botox okay and start fillers.

I discussed with Dr. Kim how I was looking to correct a slight asymmetry where my right side of my mouth seemed less full than the left. I wasn’t looking to enlarge my lips I just wanted to balance them. We start and Dr. Kim puts filler in every quadrant of my lips, and he talked about how this would give a poutier look on profile, which was not my goal but I’m not a plastic surgeon and I don’t know how this works. So then I check out the results, my tear troughs and nose tip look good but I notice my lips are lumpy. Dr. Kim had mentioned his process for lip fillers and how he ensures they’re not lumpy before sending a patient out. So I ask about the lumpiness and Dr. Kim tells me they’re not lumpy and filler needs time to settle. You can check out the picture, they’re clearly quite lumpy, and you can also see that the left side is where most of the filler was put when that was the fuller side to begin with so the asymmetry was just exacerbated.

I go home, wait it out and my lips still aren’t settling a couple days later so I arrange to go back in for a touch up. Dr. Kim still does not admit that they’re lumpy but if I’m unhappy with the results he said he would touch it up for me. This time there is no numbing, but he doesn’t charge me for the extra filler to correct my lips, which was very nice. We add some more filler and they’re still uneven, in the photo below you can see there’s a kind of notch on the right side so we add even more to that zone and the middle of my lip starts looking kinda beaky with all this filler concentrated there so I don’t want to add any more. They’re less visibly lumpy (I can still feel the lumps) but still uneven and not the result I was going for.

I also had an issue with my Botox where one eyebrow was raised, which I also had to go in and get a touch up for once 2 weeks passed, also free of charge. However, I’ve since gotten Botox at a different place and didn’t have any eyebrow raising issue so I think it is worth noting since I did walk around for 2 weeks looking like a crazy person.

I will not be going back to Dr. Kim.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear this happened to you, it’s also happening to me :( do you still have the lumps? Or did they smooth out with time?
