A Followup Surgery That Was Even Greater Than the First!!

Hi there!! I already posted a review of my first lip fat transfer surgery with Dr. Douglas, and this is my second lip fat transfer surgery with him and his great team! My result was even better this time (i've gotten several nice comments from friends and my partner)! This time I used much stricter postop recovery practices, which I will detail here for anyone curious about getting higher fat retention on their lip fat transfers. I want to mention first: my goal was a permanent augmentation that simulated standard lip fillers (Juvaderm, etc.) but that didn't fade over time. I like the big lip look! A lot!! (the "bimbo" look if you like ;D) and want to keep having big lips permanently. So it makes more financial sense for me to use my own (in this case: my belly's) fat and do that surgery several times then it does to pay for standard fillers over and over again. Anyway, my postop care practices! First off, the way fat transfer works when you want maximum retention is that you keep the part of your body that fat has been added to, such as your lips or your butt, as immobilized as possible for the first 4-6 weeks. So I only spoke through clenched teeth for the first three weeks or so, and avoided using my lips to shape words whenever possible. (This mean M's, N's, B's, P's, and V's were trickier sounds to make.) When that wasn't feasible, I communicated with text-to-speech on my phone, I used texting, and I used a white board I kept on hand. These were COVID times and I was around the house most of the time, so this wasn't as big a sacrifice as it sounds haha. The other thing I did, other than avoiding straws which you definitely should, was that I used a small funnel over my open mouth and poured water and other drinks through it. I didn't wrap my lips around the funnel or move my lips at all really. This way I wasn't matching the lip and rims of cups against my healing lips, which I believe also kills off fat cells in your lips when you do it, the same as shaping your lips to speak or suck on a straw. Needless to say, my partner and I were not making out very often throughout this lol. (They got over it lololol) Now did I spill liquid on myself sometimes? You bet I did, but "beauty is suffering," right? Besides it's just a few weeks, and obvi I can just do laundry. Beyond those, I avoided drinking alcohol for the first six weeks, I only took acetaminophen on the night after surgery and twice the next day, when the pain was at its worst. They're anti-inflammatories and ultimately I want my lips to be inflamed, y'know?? heehee Also after my first surgery, which was also during COVID, I got antsy with all this sitting still and I think I walked a little more around the house than I should have. A little walking each day goes a long day, you don't need to be hitting 10k steps a day while recovering from surgery, or maybe even 5k steps. I also let myself put on a little weight during surgery (which I've since lost) because I do keto most of the time and that makes your body burn fat *a lot,* and I wanted to be sure I didn't burn fat while healing from a fat transfer surgery. Dr. Douglas and everyone at PSS in North Bay are fantastic, this surgery went great, my result was great, and I'm looking forward to doing this surgery again at a later date!! wheeeeeeeeeee THANK YOU EVERYONE AT PSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
