For my first time receiving lip filler, i was not looking to go bigger, only to correct a lopsided top lip.
I chose to receive treatment from Dr. Rita Rakus, she is known for being an expert in creating natural looks. You can see from the picture that she is master of her craft. I have no point of reference as this was my first time getting filler, but I am extremely happy with the result. I did not want anyone to know I had anything done - mission accomplished.
I had a brief 10 mins consultation. Sounds quick, but I knew what I wanted exactly, and Dr.Rakus explained clearly how she would get it done. So we had no need to discuss various options. 10 minutes were enough to fill me with complete confidence. Note that I never felt rush, and if I had wanted more time that would not have been an issue.
I waited with numbing cream for 45 mins before the procedure. I was given the choice of how long I needed and I asked for the longest time possible as I anticipated serious pain from the needle. 45 mins with numbing cream did the trick for me, no pain at all. If your pain tolerance threshold is higher, you can shorten the whole appointment by reducing the time with numbing cream.
Then Dr. Rakus worked REALLY fast to inject Princess filler. Numerous needle pricks in top and bottom to shape everything in 1-2 mins.
And that was that!
After months of research, angst and trepidation before my appointment (remember, first timer), the whole thing was pain free and EASY.
In preparation, and after seeing many people experience bruising with lip fillers, I took arnica pellets (30 strength) before and after treatment. Arnica is homeopathic so I don’t know if it really works. But It was part of every medicine cabinet when I grew up. Our mums’ weapon against cuts and bruises. And I did not bruise at all despite the numerous needle jabs so I choose to keep the faith :-)
Dr. Rakus’s clinic is very welcoming, and BUSY.
There are multiple treatment rooms and options, and a team of practitioners.
It’s quite the haven in vibrant Knightsbridge.
With that location, comes a price list that sits on the higher end of the scale. But Dr. Rakus’s reputation, and my 100% positive experience make it an easy choice to make. I am just so delighted to have found “my” doctor on my first go!
