6 months in!
What a difference 6 months can make! My teeth have completely changed! The gap is completely closed, the two front teeth have moved back substantially, and the bottom teeth have been angled back up.
Next up - rubber bands to correct my bite. According to my ortho, this will be the longest part of the process.

5 week update - first adjustment
Went in for my first tightening this week. Added power chains to my bottom teeth to close some small gaps and continue to pull teeth inward (teeth had outward flare).
Goal is close all the frontal gaps within the next 4 weeks so that next visit we can upgrade to thicker wires and start pushing the teeth back to correct my bite.

Lingual Upper & Lower Braces
Like many of you, I had braces as a teenager but failed to wear my retainer (major womp womp). I have an overbite, with front 4 teeth flaring forward because of a tongue thrust. I have been wanting to fix my teeth for years but was against metal on the front of my teeth. Enter Lingual Braces. I have had these for about 5 weeks now and am so happy with my experience thus far.
Here’s what I’ve experienced so far:
My ortho chose to put both top and bottom lingual braces on at once which meant there was A LOT of metal in my mouth all of a sudden. The first week, my tongue got cut up like crazy and was really heavy especially after I’d been talking all day. I chose not to use wax or gushy goo because I wanted my tongue to get used to the irritation and get “tougher.” It worked!
My teeth were minimally sore the first couple of days and I quickly got used to having the metal in my mouth. I was hesitant to bite into anything with my front teeth for the first 3 weeks but eventually was able to get used to it.
After the first 2 weeks, I broke one of the brackets on the bottom, as my bite was chomping down on the bracket. A quick visit to the ortho to get it fixed also brought a Power chain installation on my top 4 teeth to continue to close the gap.
So far I’m so happy with my decision to do this!
