Life Changing Rhinoplasty
I first heard of Dr. Rohrich through a longtime friend. We scheduled our rhinoplasty about 8 weeks apart. My first plastic surgery was with Dr. Hackney, who has since retired at the time I was looking to have another procedure done. Almost nine years had passed between the two procedures and now I was bombarded with so much information online, it was very difficult to select someone new with so many surgeons in the Dallas area. I first looked at the UT Southwestern plastics page, then narrowed it down by the proper board certifications. I initially wanted someone in plastics with an ENT background. Nonetheless, with the recommendation of my friend, my additional research, I made 4 appointments. When I walked into Dr. R's office, I was so nervous. His staff was incredibly sweet and kinds and he walked in and his confidence can be felt from across the room. I knew I wanted a professional with all the right certifications, accolades, UTSW background but the confidence was the deal breaker. To finally say yes I lastly went to the Texas Medical Board where I saw he had an excellent record and several sub specialties such as hand surgery and pediatric plastics. I was sold.
To give a comparision, I went to another surgeon who tried selling me on an additional chin implant.... because we women want to hear something else wrong with our face.. ridiculous.
Surgery: The day before surgery Dr. Valek called me, he is a vascular anesthesiologist at Baylor. I can not say enough about this man. The fact that this caliber of physician is who Dr. R works with just had me floored. Again because I am extra paranoid (I work in healthcare) I called my friends, a vascular surgeon and a pulmonologist both at Baylor and when I mentioned Dr. Valek, not only did they know him, but said I was getting the best in the business. Needless to say I slept like a baby that night. I knew I was in great hands.
I get to the surgery center, its impeccable, so tidy and state of the art. Both doctors come speak to me at make my husband and mom feel welcomed as well. Almost 3 hours later, I came out of the room with a new nose. A week later, in the post-op appointment, the splint is removed by Letty and I finally see my nose. Letty was AMAZING at removing my sutures and splints. She spoke Spanish with my mom, making her feel comfortable as well. What an incredibly sweet and professional woman! I just loved her. Well, I finally see my nose, with no bump and the last time I felt that emotional was my wedding day. I cried tears of joy. It was cheesy to sit there crying tears but for 32 years I'd lived self conscious about my nose and Dr. R made a dream come true. The open rhinoplasty was very complicated and intricate and he executed my surgery with the finesse of a magician.... pure magic. I can't wait to see him for my breast re-do in a couple of years. Please do your homework, see lots of docs, ask the right questions, but please add him to your list. He a gifted surgeon. THANK YOU DR ROHRICH!
