Hello all! I am a stay at home mother of one, and have been married to my grade school sweetheart for almost 12 years. It seems as though I have always had huge boobies, and I joke with my family and friends that I came out of the womb wearing a training bra! Of course that is a stretch, but seriously, my boobs have been in my way and the bane of my existence since 1999. I can't tell you the last time I ran for fun or exercise, and I haven't slept on my back without feeling like I am being smothered by two warm, very large pillows in years. I assumed that I had been a DD for years, until this past spring When I decided to order new bras. I measured and deducted and checked the company's little size chart and To my surprise they had me at a DDD! So, I ordered 3 of their most comfortable looking bras in said size and waited anxiously for their arrival. I felt excitement as I tore open the shipping bag and pulled out my pretty new bras. My excitement ran away and hitched a bus out of town as I buckled the 4 hooks and pulled up the pretty flowery cups of my DDD bra. It did not fit. Not even with tucking and folding and turning and cussing. My bigger boob ( who my hubby and I lovingly call Big Bertha ) was having none of this bra. How dare I that I bought a bra in a size that I was measured for!! How dare that I thought I could fit in a DDD. My Big Bertha and her little minion would take no less than an H bra, or better yet, no bra at all!!! So I half heartedly returned the 3 beautiful bras into their shipping package and placed the return label on with a sigh.

So after years of the above scenario happening over and over, extreme pain, numbness, and all around low self esteem issues, I made the decision to look into a breast reduction. After hunting for a few weeks I settled on a PS in my area. I have already had my initial consultation with him, and am now awaiting approval from my insurance. I have stopped smoking ( been nicotine free for over two weeks ) and have been reading everything I can find about the surgery and recovery. I am beyond excited and terrified at the same time! I hate waiting, and I just know in my heart that my insurance is going to deny me. If they do I won't be able to go through with the surgery, and that would break my heart!!

Anyways, that's my story for now, and I look forward to keeping you guys updated on my situation. All thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much for starting your journey with us.  I laughed out loud when I read the Big Bertha comment:)   I totally get how you are feeling and feel your pain.  Been there and done that.  Congratulations on stopping smoking, this is so critical for good healing and recovery.  See you are stronger than you know.  Keep us up to date.

Thank you for your kind words. I talked to the surgery planner yesterday and she said that everything was sent to the insurance, so it's up to them now! And me and Big Bertha are still smoke free

My insurance approved my surgery today!! I am so ecstatic. And nervous. I really don't know what I am right now! My surgery has been scheduled for December 9th. The surgery coordinator was so nice and worked me in when my husband will be off for a week. So he can play nurse. Now I will get Thanksgiving over, and make sure the bills are paid up, my house is clean and that I have a nice spot to recover in.

I heard of him but I picked Pikeville Ky for my surgery because I heard good things about the surgery dep plus it was easy to get an appt without a referral from physical therapy or dr. Did you have to have a referral? We can be surgery buddies:) it's good to have support from women.

I don't know if I had to, but I did have a referral. He was recommended by my DR, as she has actually been to him twice for different surgeries.

Late for period?

No, don't think I am pregnant, lol. I had my tubes tied at 21 and my periods have a tendency to screw up my schedule sometimes. But, now I'm worried I will be on my period during surgery. Anyone else have this happen? Will they still do the surgery?
