4wks update

Hi guys ok so it's now a little over 4wks post op. So far I'm very pleased with the results however there have been some minor setbacks. Because I'm very tall and the areas treated was quite large I have suffered from quite a lot of fluid meaning my true results might take longer to show. However I absolutely love the direction things are now going in. I opted for 11 MLD treatments in total partially due to this. I am seeing dr Hamlet again on the 9th March. This is due to some swelling under the right arm known as roping. Something that again is not too uncommon but I'm assured is nothing to worry about. It all sounds quite bad but honestly it's not. I'm just trying to give a very detailed and informative review covering all aspects good and bad.

Grant has advised I continue to wear the 4D vest along with my compression at least until the seroma's calm down along with swelling. I am of course uploading some pics to this review and will try and update again very soon.

Dr Grant Hamlet

As Mentioned above I have yet to have my surgery as it is booked for thursday 28/01/16 with Dr Grant Hamlet via The Private Clinic Leeds. So Please make sure you check back then as I will update regularly. I will also be trying to do a video blog via youtube and if allowed will upload a link to this when I have done that too. Ok so as I have said I have been to several appointments with surgeons something I would strongly advise. Even if you have a good idea of who your preferred surgeon is. well I did my research and ended up with a bit of a dilemma Selston clinic or The Private Clinic. I first met with Sorena from the Private Clinic Leeds a truly lovely lady with a good ear and a truly caring approach. She instantly made me feel at ease as I was understandably nervous and somewhat clueless to this relatively new procedure. However in minutes I felt much more relaxed and hopeful of what can be achieved. She Gave me a quote and this is where it did get a little scary, ( I must admit I cried ) Again though she brought me back down to earth and said I know we are not the cheapest but what we can offer you and the surgeons experience is really what your paying for. She also advised that I speak to dr Hamlet as he would be able to give me a much better idea of what he can do the time he would need and what is best for me. With that in mind the price might also reflect his changes as everyone is different in how much time they need so therefore how much it will cost. So the day of my consultation came with Dr Grant Hamlet, He was in surgery earlier that day so was running a little behind a small gripe but then I thought if it was me in theatre I would not want him rushing to finish. Not too long passed and I finally got too meet Dr Hamlet first impressions was poor guy looks knackered lol we went into his room where we discussed my options he showed me some pictures of Vaser Hi def and Mid def we decided after some time that More of a mid to Hi def would best suit me as I wanted it to be more athletic than body builder. I explained I wanted it too look natural and that I wanted to be able to do some work myself both prior and after. With this in mind he said I should achieve a mid-hi def look Mid where he does it and where I have added to the muscle more of a hi def look will be visible. Summery just over 2wks to go and I'm a bag of nerves. Im incredibly excited but also very apprehensive about whats to come. Please check back after the 28/01/16

Thank you very much for sharing your journey! You look amazing! My fiancé is now day 2 post op and he really is in so much pain. He looks great but is in a lot of pain at this point. It has been very helpful to follow your progress. Our surgeon is not going to start massages until 1 week post op so I am a little concerned about that. I see yours was started day 2. Do you think it's okay to begin a week out? I am listening to your advice not to skimp on this so I am concerned. Just want to know your opinion on this. Looking forward to continuing to watch your progress! Good luck and thanks for the information!
MLD is most beneficial started as soon as possible. My first session was actually the very next day. Most people dread the thought of having it done as like me you expect to hit the roof in pain. The thing is the first one is generally to wake up the lymph glands and is quite a gentle process and actually quite therapeutic too. Sure it's a little strange and is sometimes a little ouch that part hurt. But it's by no means painful. Choosing your MLD therapist is just as important as choosing the right surgeon for you procedure. Can I ask was it vaser mid or hi def your partner had? As when I was looking Into this some places told me two weeks post op MLD would commence and that was with Vaser only. However one week or two weeks is simply not quick enough regardless of procedure. The reason why MLD is best started the next day is to do with the speed of recovery and skin retraction with Vaser over traditional lipo. Once you get a build up of fluid it has nowhere to go now if you just leave the fluid in there the skin will just retract around it meaning you would have to have further procedures to get it out. This can usually be done with just a needle but might require further surgery if too extensive. The problem is if your surgeon is not a fully trained Vaser hi def specialist he might not be aware of the importance of MLD body contouring. It simply goes hand in hand and you should not have one without the other.

The other thing you can do is ask a surgeon on here too. Just make sure they are specialists in Vaser body contouring ie mid def hi def.

Forgive me for my very long reply I just want to get as much across as possible. If you need anything else please do ask.

Please stay in touch and let me know how he does.
Hello and thank you for your quick response! My fiancé did have Vaser hi def Lipo of his upper and lower abdomen, chest, chest line, flanks, back and sacrum... His surgeon is leaving three Penrose drains open for the first week and then will begin the massages. I think that maybe y he waits to start the messages. It is very messy and a lot of hard work trying to keep him dry as the fluids do not go into any type of bag. It's horrible bc it's constantly draining front and back and he stays wet all the time. He can walk around but still can't get up or down by himself bc of the pain. Also as of tonight his scrotum is probably doubled in size. Our surgeon did say he would be bruised very badly but he didn't say his scrotum would be enlarged. Kind of scary. I will call his office in am if it's not improved just to ease my mind. Thanks again for your input! It's extremely helpful to have this website to compare other people's experiences and to gather information. I hope you are doing well!
Hi your very welcome and I'm more than happy to help if I can. Along with undergoing a few surgical/non surgical procedures I also have a good understanding of beauty therapy and aesthetics. This inside knowledge has helped me greatly. This being said there have still been some slightly concerning times. If in doubt check it out is my general moto. With regards to his scrotum this is quite common also don't be too surprised if his penis changes colour too from bruising. Is your partner wearing a body compression and 4D vest under? As this is also key to recovery but without any drains would become very wet and uncomfortable that could lead to infection. The first few days I would generally expect a lot of discharge and this might change colour slightly. I forgot to ask where are you based and who carried out the procedure? You really need to contact them if you have any concerns at all. What pain relief has he been prescribed and also did his surgeon prescribe any antibiotics.
Hello Grahamdee,
Today has been a much better day, thank goodness! We are from TN. and his surgeon is Dr. Chad Deal. Dr. Deal actually knows Dr. Hamlet and speaks very highly of him. He put him on two different antibiotics for double coverage and gave him Percocet and Valium for pain. His scrotum is probably triple in size and Dr. Deal did confirm today that it is perfectly normal. Those first few days was really difficult, but my fiancé says he is 100% happy he'd did this procedure and he would do it all over again! He is finally excited about going to the beach and not being embarrassed. Honestly, this procedure is life changing on many levels. Thank you and I hope you are still doing well and recovery is everything you needed it to be!
Hi Grahamdee, thank you for your detailed review. I'm having mid-def with Dr Hamlet tomorrow and although I wanted MLD the following day, I was told it was too soon. And because it will be difficult going back and forth, I am not due to have a session until Thursday, when I get my drains removed. Should I be concerned?
Hi although it is generally considered best to start the MLD 3days post op is perfectly acceptable and you should aim to have anywhere between 5-10 sessions most commonly it will be 7 but everyone is different and you should expect more than less. Whatever you save on MLD is then a new outfit. Bonus as far as I was concerned. Where is your surgery booked is it at the London clinic? Please tell him I said hi and keep me posted on your recovery.
So sorry half of my text is missing as I'm on my phone and it likes to think it's smarter than me lol. Basically should have read sooner is better but 3days post perfectly acceptable. Also always look at more rather than less. Good luck
Had the worse day.... My appointment was pushed back from originally 10 to 1:30. Was seen by the nurse and warned that Dr Hamlet was running behind. Approx 4 hours later Dr Hamlet came in and marked me up. Then 30 minutes later, the clinic manager and the anaesthesiologist came in to tell me that he had to go and so I need to reschedule. This was at 6pm... So my whole day was wasted and I had been nil by mouth and stressed. Also I'm a self employed contractor so lost a days money. Not only that but I have spent the last week tense and worried, preparing everything for recovery. And this was really the latest date, as I am due to go on my best friends 40th birthday holiday and was hoping to look good in a bikini.

I did say Hi for you though.... Before I was completely disappointed and had my hopes ruined.

They haven't posted my new review yet, so I'm ranting on yours. Sorry!!!
Hi that is truly annoying and I can understand your frustration. What I can say though is that this truly must have been out of his hands. Of course I can't really comment on your case personally. But every time I have seen dr hamlet I have always been made to feel quite comfortable and reassured. I understand you turned to dr hamlet after a not so pleasant experience so maybe you are somewhat more on your guard? Again only you truly know this. However I too would be feeling quite disappointed if this was me.
Dr Hamlet was as charming as ever as was my original Dr who actually organised for me to go to Dr Hamlet. However a 6 hour delay most of which I'm lying on a gurney stomach in knots.... to eventually be cancelled after Dr Hamlet had marked me up for surgery.... Really not ok!

21days follow on post

3wks update and also had follow up with Dr Hamlet. He was happy with his work and told me that things would be very much up and down in terms of how things look. He advised I continue to wear my 4D vest at least for another week possibly longer if I'm still getting a lot of fluid build up. He of course asked me how I was feeling and if I was happy with the results so far. It is still very much early days and I know things will continue to improve. Indeed he confirmed this too. Overall so far so good I'm very happy and the staff have all been amazing. One slight concern I did have was my weight and size. Although I look much much smaller and thinner with a much better shape my actual size has not yet changed. This is apparently 100% normal and indeed a lot report a temporary gain in weight and size due to swelling and fluid used during surgery. He did however say the first thing you will notice is how things fit. This is most definitely true as I can now where much much smaller sizes.

Two weeks review plus draining

Unfortunately I was not able to update last week so having to post 2wk and 3wk review together. Although I will try to post separate for easier reading.

The results are really starting to come in now. However it really does change from one day to the next. The tissue in the treated areas has now gone very hard. It's a really strange feeling unfortunately I have had several seromas ( fluid build up ) that has required manual draining on a regular basis. But this although not very nice is not too painful and you certainly feel better afterwards. I will attempt to upload pics and a video of this along with my update pics.
