The blue tattoo is 18 years old, and the red tattoo is 17 years old. Both were starting to fade, and I figured that I had to either touch them up or remove them.
After meeting with Judy Sanders at Aestheticare in Leawood, KS about laser removal, I felt that 4-6 treatments at $150 per tattoo with a Q-switched laser (two, actually - one for the red, and one for the blue) was worth removing them completely, because I really had no long-term love for the decisions I made as a very young adult.
Yesterday, I had my first treatment. It didn't take very long, no more than five minutes per tattoo, but it was quite painful. Based on what I'd read, I anticipated this, but wow, had it been much longer, I would have insisted on a break. I

Thank you! I'm interested to see how this all pans out over the next year or so. I will, of course, continue to share pictures.

I'll add to that, it is extremely painful. I am having a tat removed off the top of my foot. Ouch. But totally worth it.

Welcome to the community, good luck on your removing your tattoos. Are you using any numbing cream prior to the treatment? I look forward to your updates.

Thanks, Eva - I appreciate it! I haven't used any kind of numbing cream or pre-treatment. I essentially just head in and bite the bullet, so to speak. It definitely hurts, but it's a short procedure, and the pain doesn't really linger.

Second Treatment

I was quite pleased with the fading that took place after the first treatment, and was looking forward to the second treatment.
I went in the Wednesday, 4/8/15, and bore the pain again.
It hurt just as much as it did the first time, and the red tattoo really took a hit. I've got a bit of blistering, and is still somewhat uncomfortable 3-4 days later. I have a feeling it will go down throughout the next week.
I've attached photos from the day before treatment #2 and the day after.

Looks painful!

Thanks for your postings. I am considering Aestheticare Medspa for a removal in a month or two. I know they don't use the picosure so I am trying to find out if they are successful or not. Thanks again!

You're quite welcome. My experience has been really good so far, despite the pain, and I've had an incredible amount of fading after just two treatments. I'm almost completely healed after the last treatment, so I'll post more pictures soon.

Third Treatment

I can't get over how faded these have become after two treatments. It's been a night and day difference, and I think that four to five total treatments may be in the realm of reality.

I went in on Wednesday, 4/20/15, and sucked up the pain. Once again, I've attached photos from the day of treatment #3 and the day after.

I agree, you have had great progress so far and I would say no more than 4-5 treatments. So happy for you!

Hey there, are are you doing? Do you have more fading to report? Have you had anymore treatments? I look forward to your update. :)

I've actually stopped for the summer. I was advised to keep the area from getting tan, because the laser could destroy the pigment as well as the ink if it was too dark. I tan easy and am outside shirtless often, so I figured I'd be safe and wait until the winter to start up again.

In the meantime, they continue to fade, so I'm not too upset. :)
