WORTH IT
As I've entered week 5 I'm surprised how much better I feel. Things are much softer and I don't feel nearly as tender. I finally figured out how to wear the pull over bras so the seam doesn't rub my bottom incision- wear them inside out!!

I'm wondering how others feel at 4 weeks. My boobs really ache and I just thought I'd not be so "aware" of them as I am now. Anyone else still feel painful at 4 weeks?
The tape is starting to bother me and I've been told I can take it off, but that scares me. I'm not sure what I'm going to find. It looks ok, but I'm wondering how much support the tape gives, or if that's why they are hurting. Thoughts anyone?

I'm 33 days post op and I'm very sore. The left side hurts to gentle touch. My tape was removed a week ago and my incisions are splitting. I wish mine wasn't removed so soon. I will have to have another surgery because of it.

Wow- that's scary. Think I'll go ahead and leave mine on. I go back for office visit next week.

Do you know why your incisions are splitting open?

I'm exactly 4 weeks today. I'm still a little sore and have some swelling as the day goes on. I also still have some bruising. But I am feeling much better and energetic this week, than I did last week. I'm not wearing any tape and I'm fine. Just sports bras 24/7.

so sorry to hear, it will be time limited of course, but still it really really sucks!

Hi. I started wearing silicone tape at around 4 weeks. If find it supports and cushions the incisions and is supposed to be great for reducing scars.

For anyone that this might help:
If you are not a skinny girl. Don't waste money on anything labeled "one size". Your incisions will be sore and you will not want anything that is tight. I'm not particularly heavy in the waist, I measure 35 inches at the waist, but I'm a definite hourglass and that means that the tension is less at the bottom of the band than it is at the top- that means bands roll up. I'm not sure if I was straight up and down if that would happen or not.
Additionally, leave your bra ego at the door and order or buy something that is at least 2 sizes bigger than you think you will need. If you think you are a LARGE get a 2XL. Remember these bras are 10 bucks, not the $85 we are used to. It's going to be ok to toss them later. I didn't follow this and so now have a drawer full of bras that I will wear eventually, but don't help me at all now.
If you are a heavier gal and found a good aftercare bra that didn't kill you, I'd love to know what you got!

So true! I have a pile of bras that might fit one day when swelling is gone and incisions aren't sore. But I won't be wearing them anytime soon. I'm wearing the same size XL that I would've stuffed myself into pre-surgery. But now I actually fit it and look good in it.

I have several that I purchased previously, that might be alright for now! I'm 4 days post-op, and am bandaged up until the 23rd! Nothing has been mentioned yet by my PS about bras, so I'll just wait until the 23rd and see what he suggests!

January 16, 2017
Yes, i was wondering WHY there is so much difference in what the PS does for post-op, BRA, NO BRA, drains, no drains, etc etc A tight bra for 6 weeks 24 hours per day seems awful, but does anyone know the reason? Mine said either no bra or just a little light stretchy front-close bra i got at the hospital shop in the lobby...it seems fine for me now..on day 12

I just wore the bra furnished by my PS. Wash it every other day & throw it in the dryer for 15 min.

My daughter went to our local KMart and for $11 each, purchased 6x (46DDD) tshirt type front closure bras. They've been amazingly comfortable.
January 9, 2017
I've not had luck with the front closure since the straps aren't adjustable. Been wearing the surgical vest most of the time, but since it's high profile I can't wear it with most of my clothes.
