Disappointed with results

Update: went to the eye surgeon for a check up last week. My left eye has a slight vertical distortion still, and my right eye is continuing to change so that now only mid-range (about four to ten feet out) is crisp. I have to carry readers wherever I go as I cannot see small print any longer.
My depth perception is also a problem and I hit my head often on objects that are in my upper right field of vision.
If you are considering eye surgery of any kind, I recommend that you go to a highly experienced eye surgeon, and not to one of those strip mall (or other) lasik places.

Getting PRK in June 2023!
suitsmefineMay 10, 2023
My right eye is at about 20/20, but I continue to have slight blurriness and double vision in the left eye. My surgeon and I-have agreed that PRK is our best option for my left eye, which will provide the slight correction and flattening that my cornea will need. Surgery at no additional cost scheduled for June 29, 2023.

How did it go? My sister had PRK and it was painful. I hope your recovery was easier and that your vision is corrected. Stories like yours do not get enough publicity.

Hello lax! I had heard that PRK was painful, especially the week after surgery. This was NOT my experience. Other than a bit of pressure from the surgery machine, I had very little pain. I did it have any stinging at all. For a few weeks it was a little scratchy, but really not bad.
I was really careful to follow all instructions, including four different kinds of eye drops, lots of rest, and no heavy exercise for two weeks.
I can tell that PRK heals slower than Lasik, but so far I am pleased with the results. The difference seems to be that the improvement in sight is more gradual. I'm at six weeks post PRK now, and I have started to experience crisper vision at a mid distance. By this I mean about fifteen to twenty feet away. I can work on a computer without glasses, but need +1's for close reading like a phone or book.
I am hopeful that vision in my right eye will continue to improve over the next few months.
I agree with you about sharing this experience. Two years ago I though Lasik was an easy procedure, and that I'd wake p with 20/20 vision. Definitely not the case for me and more patients as well who I've spoken to since. Thank you for your interest in my review!

Eyesight getting better
suitsmefineJanuary 14, 2023
January 2023 update: I went to see the lasik surgeon yesterday. My right eye is 20/20 now, and I’m very happy with that result. I can see crisply at almost all distances with that eye.
My left eyesight is still a challenge. It measures at 20/25 without correction, but the slight residual astigmatism seem to be still causing blurriness and a small amount of distortion (slight vertical shadows).
We may redo the left eye later, the surgeon is willing to do that at no cost. I’ve got another check up in three months.
At the moment I’m good for driving, day and night, and for reading I just use +1 readers.
