WORTH IT
ok I read Jane's review of the LASER VISION EYE CENTER in Mumbai India and I was amazed, the price seemed too good to be true if I'm honest, I spoke to Jane and asked lots of questions, she did put my mind at ease and I thought that even if I didn't have it done when I get there Mumbai seemed like a place I would at least like to see, the eye surgery is something that I always wanted to have done, the cost was a problem because I had a lot wrong with my eyes, for starters I had a +8 in both eyes for distance and then needed a +3.25 for reading, something about astigmatic and off axis, said it was very complicated, all I asked really is can it be done, we... pictures speak a thousand words, no cutting of a flap just lay there and all over in minutes, yes for a couple of days I was feeling like I had sand in my eyes but nothing I couldn't handle, but the 7 day and was crying when I took my eye test and could see without glasses for the first time, what was the most impressive thing to me, I could even read without glasses, he said I will need them in the future but for now try not using them reading, instead the surgeon showed me some eye exercises to help me with my reading sight

Wow that's great! Did you look at having the procedure done closer to where you live?

I did, but, the fact that most places talked about the cutting of the flap, really put me off having it done, the person from here said they didn't do that where she went and I liked that idea, but that was only part of it, I had never been to India in my life, so... for less than half the price of here in the UK, I got to visit a place I never thought I would go, have a procedure I couldn't afford and wouldn't have done because I was so scared, for some reason going there and saying to myself I came this far lets do it, it just helped give me the push I so needed, anyway, Mumbai omg, its amazing and its crazy, so glad I got to SEE it :p

Can I ask did they use those prongs to hold your eye open, and if so did that hurt? I don't know if I can do it... And if they didn't cut the flap what did they do? And finally how is your eyesight now?

Bad enough if you have post op problems in the UK as a result of refractive eye surgery! But these can show up weeks, months, even years after surgery, so not so easy to run back to the surgeon/clinic in India for aftercare. And not a chance that you can take legal action against the provider for negligence etc! So think very carefully before risking your healthy eyes to unnecessary surgery - and even more carefully before going overseas for what is definitely NOT cosmetic surgery! Don't b taken in by the glossy ads and false success statistics! Meanwhile, the NHS is already in crisis and should not be considered a free back up service to clean up the mess left by private surgery, especially when performed overseas.
