Sciton TRL Contour - 39 Yrs old

WORTH IT$3,000
After many years of tanning beds, years in the sun and just not taking care of my skin I was looking to maybe get some years back. For the last couple years I have felt I looked a lot older than I am and just started feeling depressed. I had a VI Peel and 3 microneedling procedures that didn’t do a thing but reduce my bank account.
Not yet wanting to go to the extreme of a face lift I found the Sciton Laser. Seeing the before and after photos I said I had to have that! I researched Dr.’s in my area that had the Sciton Laser because I didn’t want the Co2 resurfacing. I found Dr Lind in the Woodlands. His patient reviews about him and his staff were great so I went for a consult in August.
I felt really at easy with him and Bridget. They were great! He told me about the different procedures the Sciton laser does and I decided on the deeper resurfacing treatment called TRL Contour because of the depth of my lines and wrinkles. After thinking on it about another 2 and a half months and finally made my appointment.
So I had it done on November 21st.
I wasn’t having a full face done, just under my eyes, my forehead and around my mouth.
I was given a prescription for pain meds and anti-anxiety meds to take on the way to the office to take a bit of the edge off. For some reason they didn’t really help me but I still went head with it.
Dr. Lind injected a nerve block in my forehead, around my mouth as well as inside my my lower lip around the gum line and around my eyes. The forehead was no problem but the other injections were extremely painful.
Then I set and wait for the numbing to work and they brought me back to the laser room. Put shields on my eyes and away he went. I didn’t feel a thing but the smell was awful. I could really only smell it when he did my upper lip so I guess it wasn’t all that bad.
Afterwards my sister had to drive me home. I wasn’t in any pain just yet. Within an hour or so the burning started. Everyone says it feels like a really bad sunburn. I also describe it as feeling like getting slapped over and over and over again.

It's been 3 weeks on Fri and I'm still pretty red. How long did it take for the red to go away or are you still red? I have had a few break out due to the heavy moisturizers. Did you have any? It's only one here and there but I never break out.

it’s been 6 weeks for me and I am still red under my eyes and above my lip. The research I did before hand said it could be months of redness so I kind of figured it would take awhile. Mine isn’t super red like it was but it just looks like blemishes. Nothing a little concealer can’t fix. Yes I also got a couple pimples here and there and I never broke out before. I actually have one right now. It’s just the moisturizer like you said. Did the orange peel look go away?

What was the cost of your procedure? The results are amazing.

Thank you so much! It was $2500, but keep in mind that wasn't for full face.

Wow, it took more time to heal than I expected. I just had my coworker fractional lasar, it looks much different, I'm on day 5, hoping I'm presentable by day 7.

Sorry, I'm just now seeing your comment! How did your healing go? Are you liking your results?

Later the same evening...

Later in the evening the same day the bleeding started which is normal. Still just have burning pain but also very tired. Exhausting day but worth it. That first night I probably applied way more Aquaphor than needed but I didn’t want to risk drying out. I set up my bed with and old pregnancy pillow then two more pillows on top of that and also used an airplane neck pillow to get comfortable to sleep elevated. I took two pain pills as well and slept pretty good considering I’m usually a stomach sleeper.

I bet you're going to be pleased with the changes, when the oozing and swelling/redness quiet down. Remember, it's not about perfection, but gradual transformation. You're growing a newer face, with fresher skin! Your essence is still YOU.

Thank you! I’m really hoping I am pleased. So far I am, but hoping my major concern which was around my mouth continues the get better. It’s started to look a little like it did before but I know it takes time for final results.
Your words are very kind and appreciated greatly! Thanks again!

Having had lines around my mouth, That I thought CO2 laser would remove, that didn't happen. But it made them somewhat less deep, and happily: getting filler for them made them less noticeable. Yes, I have had to get filler off and on for the lines, but I noted that after a few years, the lines seemed to far less apparent, as my own skin's collagen got busy. Best to you!

Thanks! I may have to think about fillers if this doesn’t work how I want it to

Thank you for sharing!! I now realize I will need to take some time off to heal when I am ready to get this procedure. I figure if it looks this bad now it has to look pretty darn good later! Will you post some updated pics when your fully healed?

How are you liking it so far??? I have been searching for different routes as a 37 year old who hasn't taken care of my skin and needs to try to reverse some of the damage if I can.

I love it. I just wish my doc was a little more aggressive in some areas. if you have deep wrinkles it’s a great way to reverse some years without surgery.

Well I woke up looking like I went a few rounds in a boxing match. Very swollen in between my eyes. This day was a hard one because I kept getting really nauseous and having a bad headache. I think it was just the overall shock my body was taking in. Every time I had to get up and do anything around the house the nausea got worse. I wasn’t taking the pain meds during the day so I knew it wasn’t that.
I forgot to mention that I’m using ice packs on my face to help with the burning as well as swelling. I put Saran Wrap around the towel so it doesn’t dry up the aquaphor and stick to my face. It really helps.

were you given anything for the pain post treatment, at home?
Yes, I am very glad I did it. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I am still dealing with the redness around my mouth and under my eyes. I am most pleased with my forehead. I wished he was a little more aggressive around my mouth and had gone closer to my lips but I am very glad I went with this procedure. Under my eyes are still a little swollen and you can tell when I smile. I'm hoping this gets better soon but I knew this was going to be a procedure that needed patience, so I'm trying my hardest to be.
I wished I could have done a full face like you but my doctor doesn't offer it at this time. I couldn't imagine though what you are dealing with. I at least had a little part of my face I could rest on a pillow at night even though I slept propped up for a good 5 nights. The aquaphor was the worst!
Did your doctor at least give you some pain meds? My body was in shock and I was nauseous throughout the following 2 days after the procedure. It was awful.
I wish you all the best and I would love to see your results! If you have any questions feel free to ask. :)

Send me an email that it is you and I will forward my photos to you. I do love the office and staff that did my laser and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting work done. My PS is a 20 year laser specialist and very good!
