I’m at the two month point. I updated my review to Not Worth It because if I had paid full price to get my whole face done and that spot still looked this bad, I would be super upset. But I think the $250 I paid to do just that spot was totally worth a try. So don’t be afraid to negotiate with your provider. If you only need to address one area, don’t let them talk you into a full face series of three if that’s not really necessary.
Basically we did eliminate some of the texture, but now the spot is weirdly matte compared to the slight sheen the rest of my skin has and it catches the light. It’s also the same size and color as before. And that’s with the extra BBL he did before the resurfacing. I also do still have some shiny pink skin next to the spot, which is increasing the size beyond what it was previously. But I think that is still fading over time and I am hoping it will go back to normal.
I mentioned in a prior update that my doctor said we can hit the spot with a little bit of Halo for like +$100ish when I get my next full face BBL done. He thinks that may help the remaining pigment.
So we’ll see. The journey continues!

The shiny pink to the side of the spot is starting to go away and look more like normal skin again. That is a relief because from week 2 to week 3 I don’t feel like it changed at all and I was really worried about scarring.
I had my 4 week appointment with my doctor. He said I can stop using the post-treatment products and just do my normal skincare routine. He said he was happy with the results and how it is healing. We looked at his before pictures for comparison.
He said he feels like he took care of the texture and now to move forward we would treat the pigment. Remember we had already done BBL the same day as the ablative laser. He said he wouldn’t want to do the ablative laser again because it might leave a divot. He said if we treat again he would do a combination of BBL and Halo just on that one spot. He said the Halo goes much deeper than the BBL.
That all makes sense and I do not want a divot. I am just not convinced that we did take care of the texture. I feel like I can still clearly see it. It is still definitely brown also though, so I think if we could fade it to be closer to my skin color the texture wouldn’t be as big of a deal.
I usually get IPL/BBL in the fall, so I’ll probably let this heal up for another month and then make an appointment to get BBL + a shot of Halo on just the spot.

I’m glad I’m taking all these pictures because your memory just does not tell you the truth. I have been peering at the spot in the mirror all week feeling like omg he totally missed it and just lasered next to it! But I can see from the early pictures that he definitely did kind of a stripe across the spot and to either side of it. So he definitely got it, it just didn’t do anything.
The status for the last two weeks is it basically feels fine. But I’m increasingly worried that I’m going to have shiny pink scar next to the old brown spot, which is just as brown and textured as it was before. Hopefully that will go away in a couple more weeks, but who knows.
I’m still putting the aftercare cream and occlusive on twice a day. I have my follow up with the doctor next week. I’m sure he is going to just blow smoke up my butt and say it looks great no matter what. I’m just hoping it continues to heal and at least gets back to where it was at the beginning, which was just as ugly, but half the size.
Anyway, fingers crossed. He had said it would be 8 weeks before we could try again, which I’m not sure I want to do, but that should at least mean it will keep healing.
