Amazing! And I can't believe they gave you a discount!! I went to him as well when I was 17, I'm 25 now. And my bottom teeth shifted a little. Debating on invisaline.

You should defiantly go back to him for a consultation and see what they can do for you! It was totally cool that he gave us a discount for being previous customers! :)

Permanent retainer on!

I'm so happy that I went with the permanent retainer! I've only had it on for a few hours and I already love it. It's super easy to get use to and now I'll never have to worry about my bottom shifting again. I highly recommend a permanent retainer for the bottom for anyone who doesn't want the risk of their teeth shifting!

Wow you can hardly see it! Have you got your top removeable one yet?

Yes I was able to pick up both top and bottom clear retainers last night! My orthodontist said I need to wear these retainer 24/7 for the next 2 months until I'm told I can switch to night wear. I was actually really surprised to hear that I still need to wear the bottom one 24/7 because I have a permanent retainer? But I'm going to follow the rules this time since last time when I didn't they got all crooked! Lol. But I've been wearing the removable retainers since last night and they actually hurt extremely bad. I don't get why because they are just a mold of how my teeth are right now so why would they hurt? :( I had to take them out for now since I was in so much pain.

Do the retainers look like the invisilign trays? So do you still need to wear the bottom retainer at night even though you have the permanent one? Weird that they are hurting so much - would have thought it would just be like having a passive aligner. Hope the pain improves for you.

I can say from personal experience that the permanent retainers are extremely painful in the beginning :(.  They are harder than regular aligners, so they don't give at all.  Also, I think that part of the issue is that your teeth exert pressure on the aligners as well, and distort them.  So by the end of an aligner, it's not quite the way it was at the beginning.  So even though the retainer is supposed to be where you ended up, your teeth have already moved slightly from where you ended up, if I managed to express that well.  I'm guessing that you have to wear the aligners 24/7 in the beginning because the permanent retainer doesn't cover every tooth, but it may also be because the pressure your teeth can exert against the retainer if they're not settled is actually enough to remove a permanent retainer.  I've seen cases on here of that happening!

Are you getting the Invisalign 4-pack of retainers?  It's like a subscription.  And it means that you have to break in four pairs of retainers--and each one will hurt like the Dickens!

Yes the clear retainers look just like the Invisalign trays except they are made much, much thicker and harder. Maybe that's why they are causing me so much pain because I'm use to the thin, bendable, temporary Invisalign trays? And yes I have to wear a clear retainer over my permanent one for the first 2 months because the permanent retainer does not cover every tooth! :(

Also, no I never heard of the Invisalign 4-pack of retainers? What is that? I'm done with Invisalign now my orthodontist said and he never mentioned those!

It's actually called Vivera.  It's just the retainers that are done by Align Tech, who are the ones who do Invisalign.  I think it's possible to buy just one Vivera retainer, but my doctor ordered the subscription, so I got a new one every 3 months to break in and then I was left with 4 good sets of retainers.  In theory.  In practice, I've already lost two sets and half of one set was destroyed so I just have one set left.  But the lifetime of a Vivera retainer is only between 2-6 years--after that you need to get a new one because it'll be stretched out of shape.  And every time you get a new one...you have to break it in :-/.

Goodbye Invisalign, hello beautful smile!

So today was finally the day! I am officially done with Invisalign forever, and I couldn't be happier! I ended up being stuck at the orthodontist for 2 hours! It was a lengthy process. I had to get my buttons taken off, my permanent retainer put on the bottom, tons of X-Rays and pictures taken, and then be fitted for my clear retainers. I am so happy that I chose Invisalign and I love my smile so much now! What a difference to have perfect, straight teeth!
