Can Eye Bags from Fat Transfer Be Corrected?
I am 34 years old and I have had fat injections under my eyes about a week ago. I had hollowness around my eyes, and my plastic surgeon suggested a fat injection and upper eyelid surgery. I'm really not happy with the results of the procedure and I want to know if it can be corrected by any chance?
My doctor mentioned that she put 3cc fat under my right eye and 2cc fat on my left eye!! She said she put it a lot because 50% of the fat will die over the time anyways. I am pretty sure she is not very experienced on face surgeries. I am so mad at myself because I didn't research a better doctor. That's why I am afraid that this is not only swelling but also there is too much fat under my eyes now.
My doctor injected a shot under my eyes on 5th day and she said it will heal the swelling but I don't see a big difference.
I also heard that it is easier to correct her mistake within a month. I am not sure if this is correct. Please give me an advise.

on day 5, my ps injected something under my eye to help swelling. And she put tape over it and tighten my skin. She said putting pressure on it will help to reduce swelling. I am on day 7, the tape came off because after I washed my face since then. Most doctors says that I need to wait to see the result but my left eye doesn't look like a normal swelling. I hope it will go down and I will have a great look.
Do you guys suggest any treatment that I can do home for swelling? Should I put eyes over it, massage it (specially the lumpy areas), anything else? My ps advised me to massage but I read on some of the post that I shouldn't massage ..

Hey, I think yours will come down. I remember when I was petrified looking at myself in the mirror, but by the second week, saw a massive reduction. Please continue posting pics

Wow your eyes look great. My eyes looked way worse than your in 8 days and ur only 5 days. I believe you will recover nicely.

Your eyes look great. I would not do any massage. You are only on day 7. I was way more swollen at day 7. And you don't have any bruising, which is great for under the eyes. Some tips: drink lots of water. It might seem counterintuitive, but it helps. Sleep with your head elevated (you want your head to be higher than your heart). Don't do anything strenuous as that will increase swelling. Cut down on salt and don't drink coffee. Be very gentle with washing and don't put any pressure on the area. Around the third week you will see a big difference. Swelling will continue to go down for up to 4 months. After the sixth week, changes should be minimal.

GM how are you doing today? my FT waiting to see the outcome, was sitting on pins and needles but seriously your eyes really look good and i think you will have a full recovery. how long was the proceedure? i understand if the dr takes doesnt rush and takes their time you get a better outcome. my doctor, once i was sedated sucked out 30cc of fat spun it (whatever) injected 8cc of fat into each cheek (too much) then 1 & 1.5cc under eyes all w/in 10 mins. i have very visible lumps everywhere and the only 2 doc who told me they can remove most of them is taban and massry. i showed each dr i visited my surgical report and they all said my dr rushed and 98% of the fat lumps are due to his hastiness. i also got a 7" vertical line going up my face onto my nose looks like a worm that my dr did while fat graphing. this i would have to get injections to try and dissolve it along w my right cheek that most fat took which is double the size of my left cheek but that fat is in so many places. wished i never started this in the 1st place now im stuck repairing

I had liposuction at the same time I was under general anesthesia so I don't know how long it took. Your doctor put 1,5cc but mine put 3cc and I didn't need that much fat. Hopefully it will heal thank you

Please don't worry. You do look really, really good. Some more information. Some swelling is necessary. Fat cells are delicate and it takes some time for them to develop their own blood supply. The fat cells get nutrients from the fluid for the first little while.
The time it took to do the procedure isn't as important as the surgeon's skill. If someone is very good, it won't take them long because they have done it many times before. Also, you do not have much, if any, bruising. That is such a good indication. The area around the eyes is hard to do without bruising, so your surgeon did well.
About lumps. Whatever you feel now is swelling. I had lumps to the touch for the first three weeks. It was swelling. It's really hard to get fat to lump unless it was not placed correctly.
You look great. Relax. Pamper yourself and enjoy the next couple of weeks. :)

I was under gen anesthesia too but I was complaining about all my lumps and how distorted I looked I asked for my surgerical reports. So he states that's what he put in but I don't know for sure. But it did say how long I was under and how long he took which 10 mins is pretty hasty. I think you will come out great. You look good. It's hard waiting. Hugs

hello, massage will cause it worse. Because pressure will force oozing of vessels. I advice you to put your head some up during sleep, avoid heavy muscular contractures and wait for results. If swelling is severe you may consult with your doctor for injection of triamcinolon inside it. It is not any good idea to transplant fat for these conditions and it is more smart to inject hyaloronic fillers with caution and carefully.
Later after absorption of the swelling you may experience some unsmoothness because fat granules are not homogenous completely vs hyaloronic fillers.
I can advise you more via my email: bastanimohamad@yahoo.com

I also clarify that you will get very better during next 2-3 weeks later. Don't worry about swelling, it's natural and will lessen shortly.

Thank you for your concern and support. My doctor advised me to massage 3 times a day. She thinks that if I push the fat down or to the sides it will move around and swelling will go down. She said the fat and the fluid is stuck around the cells and only way to break it down is massaging. O am so confused now. 2 docs said massage over it. Other 2 doctors said don't touch at all

Sorry you are going through this. Your ps should be working with you. Swelling is caused by inflammation. Massaging this soon can create more inflammation. You really have to wait it out. You won't know for three months at least if too much fat was placed.
If you ps is not responsive, find a new one. You should not be stressed or worried. Take care!! :)

hey hows it going today?? are your eyes doing better ?? the last pic your eyes seemed like they were going down. i pray everything goes well with you and your recovery. keep us posted
June 13, 2016
Hi, thank you for your concern. My doctor is not responsive so I have been seeing other doctors.after seeing my pre operation photos, They all agreed that my doctor injected too much fat under my eyes. Even though some of them would die over time, it is better to inject right amount of fat. I am still swollen. I can not work. I can't go out in public with out my sunglasses. I pray everyday to get better soon. Doctors say that it will take up to 3 months me to wait and see and them to decide what to do.

Hello Sorry to hear you had this happen to you I had fat transfer under my eyes on May 18 and I was not very swollen and most of my bruising was seen on the 2 days post op I was worried but Dr Jugenburg was awesome hope your swelling goes down... Take care
June 14, 2016
I am so very sorry to hear this. It should have been a happy, positive experience for you. I am not sure if it will help, but has any ps suggested applying pressure to the area. I know that for the first six weeks after my fat transfer, I slept on my back to avoid pressure on the area and help the fat cells in their transition. It's different from massage. Just press the area with your finger tips when you think about it. Hang in there!
June 14, 2016
Some doctors suggested me to put tape over it to press the swollen area. Some doctors said it is not a good idea. I am so confused. It has been 14 days. Unfornutely I need to wait and see what happens in few weeks maybe months. I look like an alien. I pray everyday to get better.
June 14, 2016
Hi Kira, who did your facial fat graft and do you have any before or after photos of your results?
June 15, 2016
No disrespect but You are being too sensitive. Dr's are probably being non responsive because you are over reacting. I had the same procedure done a few years ago. I looked 10 times worse than you for about 30 days. Hang in there and stop freaking out. Your going to look fabulous! Hang in there!
June 15, 2016
I hope my situation will be similar to yours and I get better. Unfornutely, I have seen 4 doctors and they all think my ps put too much fat under my eyes. And they want me to wait 3 months before we decide another surgery to correct this mistake. I still pray to get better everyday. I have been trying to be positive. Thank you for your support. I hope I will get better.
June 15, 2016
Don't worry about it. Doctors especially plastic surgeons like to criticize others doctors work. It's call ego. You are going to be fine. You would freak out if you saw my pictures. I will see if I can find them. You look like a beauty queen compared to me.
June 15, 2016
I know you will be fine. You are just swollen. It can take several weeks for the swelling to go down. Just put it out of your mind and let your healing be worry free. I don't think the doctors prepared you for what to expect after. They told me that it was unusual to have as much bruising and swelling as I had. It's different for everyone. I blame it on my olive skin type. Once the swelling went down I was worried it would all absorb. I am thinking about getting some more filled in but I will wait for a couple more years. You are going to love the result. Oh the price of beauty

Hi Sivfino, how long ago did you have your fat graft and how much fat did you manage to retain if you dont mind me asking?
June 21, 2016
Hi how are your eyes coming along ? I hope and pray that they go down or if they don't that you find a doctor who can help you. I went to a Dr who made me worse. I now have had 4 attempts to correct the 1st mistake and each time it grows into a bigger problem. Please be careful
June 15, 2016
It is probably just swelling at this early stage. I was advised to have 'liposculpture' and I didn't research it. Too much fat was placed under my eyes and I was told it would dissolve but apparently, I was one of these people who retained fat! Strange as I am pretty slim! Anyway 20 months later, I still had huge lumps under my eyes, like big fat sausages and I was traumatised and unhappy. The surgeon offered to fix but had to lips and surgically remove the fat. I have been left with small sporadic lumps of fat and spider wrinkles on eye where it was stitched incorrectly. I now need to save to fix this whole issue yet again. Good luck - I really hope your fat dissolves and you have not been overfilled. I learned that fat transfer around the eyes should be less rather than more then topped up if need be.
June 15, 2016
I am sorry that you had a bad experience too. Do you know how much fat was injected to your under eyes? Mine was 3cc. How did they remove the fat? What the procedure call?
June 22, 2016
Hey hun, is it any better this week. I feel you pain, and hope that things have been settling for you. X

What do the docs suggest to do to be able to remove the lumps?
