I have 8 year old silicone implants - 300 or 350 cc. I haven't had any health issues but have never been thrilled with them because the left one has always felt encapsulated and I lost most of the feeling on both sides after surgery which has been difficult to deal with. I'm not sure why I ever got them in the first place since I was not unhappy with my small 32B's. I think because I was getting older and my breasts were losing their perkiness I lost my mind and followed the advice of a friend. Stupid stupid stupid. I recently had a scare with a lump and after mammogram and ultra sound my doctor feels it is not cancerous BUT, I still don't know what the lump is and it has been difficult to locate since having the mammogram. I am seeing my original PS next week to question him about possible explanation of lump and to talk to him about removing them. I suspect he may not be my choice since it sounds like this procedure needs to be done by someone who has a great amount of experience I. This procedure (based on everything I've read here). I'm hoping someone else out there has a great doc in Las Vegas they can recommend. I've read quite a few posts and I think you've all given me the courage to move forward with this before I start having problems. Thank you all for your honesty and brave stories. I will post pics and info once I get started!

Mine look exactly the same, I posted photo's waiting for them to be approved. Mine never dropped even higher than yours but same shape, I had 270cc textured high profile McGhan for 12 yrs ugh biggest regret ever, I hated them from the time I woke up in pain with them. Just had them out today! yeahhhh ZERO pain, not groggy at all no nausea and I'm home feeling great! I left my capsules in which I'd recommend.

Wow, you are my hero-no pain??!! I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling good. Keep us posted on your recovery, we’re all thinking of you!

I know this is an old post but for those doing an explant DO NOT LEAVE THE CAPSULES IN. This is the capsule that immediately starts to form around the implant as soon as they are put in, in order to protect your body from the toxins that are released from the implants and from leakage. These capsules are full of toxins and do NOT reabsorb back into your body and will make you sick.

If your not HAPPY get them removed. I was unhappy with my implants too, like you I was happy with my 34b, but was wanting a mommy make over, I had decided to get 200cc, but got talked into going BIGGER!!! Worst decision I ever made. After 1 1/2 yr I had them removed which was just 3 weeks ago. Now I'm so much HAPPIERRRR!!! At first I was nervous thinking my skin was going to sage, because I was going to remove 550cc, but honestly they look great, little to minimal saging. I know once I go back to my regalur workouts my body will start shrinking and my breast will be back to how they were before my breast augmentation.
I hope my story helps you make a decision that brings you overall HAPPINESS with your body and that your not the only person who thinks or feels regret after get a breast augmentation...
My best regards,
Moraima

Thank you Moraima! I am just hoping for the best and am trying not to expect miracles since I’m not 22 anymore:-). I know it will take time to heal & begin to look normal. I’m so glad your Surgery went well and that you’ve healed so quickly!

That was my concern to since I'm 51, and or course I know I'm not a spring chicken anymore, but I keep my food clean, lots of green leafy veggies and salads, bone brooth soup, ginger, turmeric and garlic. Wishing you the very best!!!

Thank you! That’s a great reminder to eat as good as possible. I do my best and generally eat well but do also enjoy some things that I would never consider clean. I will be bringing ginger tea to my appt so I can enjoy it on the way home. I love it and would rather have it then anti-nausea pills if needed.

Met with PS
CJ SunshineJuly 15, 2017
I met with my PS today and he feels implants are intact and doesn't feel any lumps. He said the lump I felt could have been a cyst that resolved on its own but said if I felt anything else he would send me for an MRI. I told him I am considering removal and he asked why I would want to if there aren't any problems. I told him I've never liked them. He wanted to make sure I knew what I'd be left with and I told him I would. He said it would take about 1 hour for procedure. I talked to his assistant afterwards to check dates. I didn't book anything because I'm not sure what to do. Finally got some pics but am not good at selfies! How do you all get your photos to look right??

I would encourage you to interview a few different plastic surgeons until you find one who you feel 100 % comfortable with and who is encouraging and positive about your potential results, I did not end up going with the surgeon who did my initial implants because he, like most of the other surgeons I consulted, tried to sell me on the idea of a lift with a smaller implant.
I, too, lost feeling in my chest, and that's not ever coming back. Chances are if you had nice, perky breasts before you got implants, (which I did not, if you look at my pre-implant photo on my review), that you may be fine with just having the implants removed and not need a breast lift,.
Good luck to you and definitely get a second opinion!!

I didn't realize I never replied to your helpful advice! I follow your feed so much that I lose track :-). I did end up going for a second consultation and felt very comfortable with this doctor. He has great reviews on this website and when I mentioned it to him he knew exactly what I was talking about so that tells me he pays attention to the questions and concerns of this group. He was also good at answering all of my questions. He even popped back in to speak with me when I was in with his assistant going over surgery requirements, etc. He wanted to clarify one of the items we talked about and make sure I understood him correctly. He (like my original PS) asked if I would be happier with a smaller implant and/or revision to lift my nipples and when I said I wasn't interested he didn't push. I'm sure they both know what my end result will be and are worried I won't be happy which may be true but I also don't want to get into the cycle of remove and replace as needed. I don't think it's a good idea to be having surgery as I get older. I also don't like saying that - older! :-))

I'm so glad you found a surgeon that you feel comfortable with!! I actually don't think they know at all what your end result will be. Each person is so individual as far as the healing process is concerned, it's impossible to predict how you're going to look and more importantly, how you're going to FEEL about how you look. I think it's more that since they're in the "business" of plastic surgery, their automatic default mode is to try and sell you on more procedures. And remember, if for some reason you're unhappy with your results with just implant removal, you can always go back for a lift. You just want to wait a full 6 months at least to see how far your breasts "bounce back." As I've said, there are MANY women on this site who have had great results with just having the implants removed.
And as far as "OLDER" is concerned, let me tell you, it's all in your head. I just turned 63 and I'm in the best shape of my life. And I now have THE NICEST boobs I've ever had! So, believe me, age is just a number!

Thanks for the pep talk! I am actually in decent shape but have been feeling "squishy"'lately because I keep getting small injuries that have been preventing me from doing my usual exercise routine for about two months now and it's very frustrating.
I am trying to be realistic with my expectations since I have my pre-op pictures that leave no doubt how I looked before implants and it is what it is so I can't expect miracles. My weight hasn't changed which is good but then I certainly can't expect to have more breast tissue like some others have mentioned. I'm sure I'll be fine, first steps have been completed and now I just need to make it to the finish line! I've actually put aside some shirts that I was going to donate because I don't like the way my breasts look in them & hope they will look nice with a flat chest :-). I also bought a cute little bra to have something to look forward to after surgery. My friend thought I was nuts but that's okay. Thanks again for your words of wisdom.

Wondering About Total Capsulectomy
CJ SunshineAugust 24, 2017
I've had two consultations so far and would be very comfortable with either Doctor. One is my original PS who did my implants. After the consultations I was left with the impression that total Capsulectomy is not necessary if you don't have a rupture or capsular contracture problem. Some posts I've read also say that if you have total Capsulectomy you may be left with slightly less breast tissue. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes I'm getting mine out this Friday, and I'm not getting my capsules out, they heal and do help with the fluffing some as well. They say not to get a lift at the same time, to wait and see how your own breast look 6 mo-12mo out. Good luck!
October 26, 2017
Thank you! I told my doctor to take the capsules out if he saw any problems otherwise they are staying. I did not schedule a lift either and am hoping for the best. Fingers crossed. I’ll be thinking of you on Friday. Let us know how it goes! I’m excited for you.

same here, they are leaving in. My PS felt me up and said they felt pretty soft and it doesnt seem like there would be a problem leaving them in. He said that they would collapse onto themselves and our bodies would eventually discard them on their own. I asked him if he dont mind looking around in there anyways once he had me open. But for now, the goal is to leave them in

Funny, I said the same thing to my doctor and he assured me that he always inspects everything carefully before closing and if he sees anything abnormal he tests.

From what I understand, a total capsulectomy has to be performed for optimal health. Whether you have saline or silicone Implants, the capsule is made of silicone and several harmful chemicals left in your body causing breast implant illness. please look into this information. I will be having my explant with total capsulectomy this year. best wishes to you all.

please research Dr Melmed and Dr Feng on the internet and YouTube. you will find more information there. they only perform explants now rather than implants due to breast implant illness.

What is a total capusulectomy?
October 3, 2018
Removal of implants and the capsules that form around them after having implants placed in your body.
The breast mass should be removed and followed by a breast surgeon or a surgical oncologist. In general, that part should be done separately and will be covered by insurance. Your implant removal is not covered by insurance and does not require the same follow up over time.
