Trying Biocorneum on Post Op Scars

Unfortunately No Improvement

Well, I hate to be the party pooper, but I keep my reviews honest. I've now used this product for ten weeks, and I do not see any significant improvement in my scars. Maybe if I had started it much sooner post op, (I started it 3 and a half months post op) it would have made a difference. I also wonder if I may be slightly allergic to some of the ingredients, as my chin and hairline scars became more raised during use. I applied product to my right side hairline scars, and not to the left side, for my own unscientific comparison. The side with biocorneum is more raised up and is more keloid-like. It also itched a lot more than the side without product. The old keloid on my stomach shows no change. So, 1) it is possible I am allergic and 2) the side with biocorneum is not healing as well as the side without. Now, it may be that my right side naturally heals differently than my left, but the fact is that there was no improvement from this product after the recommended usage period.
Also, I initially tried it on my upper bleph scars, but it stung when a tiny bit got near my eye, so I stopped using it on my eyelids right away. The description does not address whether it is recommended for the eyelids. Well, there you go. I was really hopeful this would improve my scars, but I saw no improvement.

Thank you for the review, it is appreciated. Do you sleep more on one side versus the other?
Hello anon, I am a back sleeper, so not really. My right side seems to continue to be more raised than the left. I will get input from my PS on my next follow up. Thank you for posting !
Thanks for the review. Not sure if you've tried hydroxy acid/retin a & copper peptides yet. The idea is that the acid/retin a gradually removes the scar/keloid & cps help rebuild new skin - also micro needling can help penetrate deeper but you wouldn't want to go too far too fast. I think your scars are healing well though. I've seen pictures of some people's scars that are completely gone within a year & they had much more prominent scaring than you at 10 weeks.
Thank you, CanLynn for the recommendations!

Hi Suitsmefine!! Awwww I just read your review on the BioCorneum, and it’s ill effects it had on you. Sounds like it could have been an allergic reaction. I’m so sorry! I’ve had such great results with it. Everyone reacts differently , now you’ve to find your miracle scar treatment. Have you researched other treatments on REALSELF? I prey you find a suitable treatment and your keloid will dissipate quickly. Hugs((())) to you my pretty RS friend
Hi there and thanks so much for the support! My doc (who generally doesn’t recommend scar creams) said the redness will go away with time. The incision lines don’t bother me much, but I know the ones at the hairline behind my ears show if I pull my hair up tight. I’ll continue to keep the sun off of them and I’m sure they’ll be fine. Hugs!
You look awesome, please don't worry about your scars. When your ears are in the normal position, no one would ever notice them, or particularly the hairline scars. They look great. :)
Thanks so much for your kind words! They are really not that visible, just raised up a bit. Doc L said that after a year post op, if they bother me he’ll do scar reduction back there. During the initial surgery, there is more pulling on that area than in the front. If I get a scar revision, it would only be in the surface of the skin.

Before and After 3 weeks

Here are a few before and after pics. Again, it's very difficult to get similar photos for comparison, but here you go!

Hi!!! It looks to me like the Biocorneum seems to be working for you!!! You look great. Im wondering how much improvement you would see after a few months. I want so bad to be able to use this product for my scars....but I'm allergic. :( Glad you are getting great results! Take care! Happy Healing!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm not sure if it's helping or not yet. I'll give it some time. Is there another scar product you can use, since you're allergic? The scar tape or something ?

3 Weeks of Use

I've now been using the biocorneum for about three weeks. After the first few days, I decided to only use it on the scars on the right side of my face, and let the scars on the left side heal without any scar treatment. My thought was that how would you know if it was the product that helped the healing, or if it was just your body's natural healing process? At least this way there may be a way to compare. The instructions say to use it for sixty days. This is my own, completely unscientific experiment. I have continued to use it everyday on my chin scar and the keloid on my stomach. It is a very luxurious feeling cream, very silky, probably from the silicone.
It seems to help with the itching, and I'm glad it has sun block. I am not sure if I see any change yet on the scars in front of and behind my right ear, or the right side hairline scars. Chin scar seems unchanged as well. The keloid on my stomach does seem to be flattening, which is nice. It is very difficult to get good photos of these scars, but hopefully they'll provide some evidence of whether there is progress.
