I am very fair-skinned and come from a long line of poorly-aging ancestors. We all look to be about 10 years older than we actually are... We wrinkle-up like raisins starting in our 20s!
Anyway, I had serious "11s" which are the "angry lines" between the brows. I also had deep, deep wrinkles across my forehead - you know, the kind you see when you raise your eyebrows? ...Except mine stayed even with my eyebrows lowered >:( When I smile, the crow's feet appear - they're not really too bad though. Not yet.
I also had horrible laugh lines next to my lips. I know that's sort of a nice thing. It shows that a person has smiled and laughed a lot in their life, but I didn't like them!!
I decided to get botox. Why not see what it could do for me? So, I did it! It was honestly not painful. Just a little pinch - and that was really only in the 'crow's feet' area. Otherwise it was barely noticeable. SO - if you're worried about pain, you won't find it here.
I learned that the laugh lines were to be taken care of by dermal fillers - not botox, as botox would paralyze the muscles around the mouth and, well, imagine how that could look!
So I went with just the forehead - "11s", lines across and crow's feet.
They said it would take up to a week to notice anything. I started to notice a strange sensation the next day! It felt kind of neat. It's very hard to describe, but it wasn't unpleasant. Over the next few days it became more noticeable and suddenly I realized I could no longer make 'the angry face' even if I tried!
So, I have been getting botox regularly for about 2.5 years and I have to say that my skin looks SO much younger - even though I am now older! The wrinkles just aren't there at all, they went away!
Another unexpected benefit? I get nasty headaches. I noticed that since I got the Botox, I often cannot feel the headaches as intensely. I can tell they're happening, but I don't really feel the pain as much. So, that's pretty awesome!
Sidenote: I did get the dermal fillers for the laugh lines and, wow, that worked like a charm too and that has lasted for a very long time (year and a half or so). I'm so happy with the results.
Overall, I am thrilled with the results of the Botox treatments!! Other than the expense, of course. As its VERY pricey... and you have to get it redone every 3 months to maintain. So, yikes. But, if you're motivated enough, you'll make it happen.
(I will add some before and after photos shortly - it's pretty impressive!)

So, I wrote this review 10 years ago. Back then, the dermal fillers in my laugh lines worked great. Now that I've aged another 10 years, it just looks heavy. I know this is a thread about botox but I figured I would mention that since I said it worked so fabulously initially. I will avoid it in the laugh/marionette lines from now on bc it just drags my face down there now and makes it look like I've got weird little fat pockets on either side of my lips. I still like the effects from botox for the most part.
Sounds like you both are BFFs for ever! I'm glad you are so happy with your results- totally relate to the fair skin and premature wrinkles. Looking forward to your pics :)
