Recovering pics

I know I still have to finish my story from earlier but I started this review after my procedure was done so playing catch is hard. I'm posting pics from last night which would be 4 days post op. I feel great, I'm sore around the front of my stomach mostly but no bruising. The incisions Dr. Banks made are really small. I live in my compression garment and it only gets to me sometimes, and when it does I take it off, go take a shower, and put it right back on. I've been shopping for another one bit haven't found one that I think would be firm enough for me, yet.

I decided to get liposuction because I have no issue with maintaining my current weight and being happy. What frustrated the hell out of me was sitting down and my stomach being in my lap. It was really too much for me. I felt like if I lost weight I'd lose the weight in places that I want the weight to stay....nothing ages us ladies like a bony face (that's totally my opinion). So, I decided to pay a dam good plastic surgeon to help me get closer to my ideal shape. The first PS I went to, Dr. Robert Rodriguez, near Baltimore was awesome. I loved his pictures, I felt confident in his work and his team was just as great as he was. Then I met with Dr. Banks. It was a challenge getting an appointment with her because before you can even schedule a date you are required to pay $100 deposit. The money will go towards your procedure if you decide to choose her as your PS. However, I just can't do it. I can't pay you just to interview you.... just to see if I feel comfortable with you and my body. I totally get that consultations take up doctor's time and time is money but even with that being said I can't do it. Luckily for me, though, I had seen Dr. Banks before when I was trying to get a breast reduction and as an "established" patient the fee was not applicable. The day of my appointment I arrived at the office and was told by the receptionist that Dr Banks was running a little behind, that was fine with me because I had to fill out paperwork and all that jazz. I guess they run really, really on time because the time I had to wait really wasn't bad so it was not a big deal. Dr Banks came into the room, asked me what it was I was looking for, I explained to her that I wanted all the extra fat from my stomach and the side of my hips, my saddlebags, removed however I didn't want it to be hard I still wanted to stay soft, she totally understood what I was saying. She did not go on and on about what she could do for me, she simply restated her understanding of my idea to demonstrate that we were on the same page and that was that. She showed me some pictures, took some pictures of me and asked if I had any questions or concerns. After that I was off to see Mrs. Yvonne.... I'll continue on my next posting

Let me start with Dr. Banks staff- there is a young man that sits at the front desk (I think he is also a medical assistant) Dr. Banks put him there strategically because when you walk up to him he has a kind and calming spirit. He isn't dry or overly syrupy, he's exactly what you need when you are preparing to pay someone thousands of dollars to cut you open. Kudos to him (wish I knew his name) Then there is Sherita (sp?), another kind spirit, very soft spoken but super knowledgeable and patient. She also training a new staff member and asked me if it was OK if she shadowed her during my procedure. I thought it was kind of cool because it's not like I would have known that she didn't belong there if she didn't tell me. There is Ms. Yvonne who I would label the office manager but I'm sure that is not her official title because she does way more than any office manager I've ever seen. She is just cool. I could probably think of a fancier adjective for her but it's unnecessary. Finally, Dr. Banks, at first I was on the fence about her. Partially because of some of the reviews and partially because when you see her outside of your appointment she doesn't speak, smile or anything. Which was off putting to me. But, I'm so thankful that I didn't let it stop me from letting her do her work. She is a professional and great doctors don't have to be extroverts to be great. When she speaks to you during your appointment, before your procedure, or any other time she is fully engaged. I read somewhere in a I review that someone said that she was rushing, I just don't see how this could be the case when everything about her oozes calmness and coolness. If I had to come up with one con it would be that I felt I was being "nickeled and dimed." And to be totally fair that's only because I had to pay an extra $35 to get my FMLA paperwork filled out. I'd recommend her to anyone and I'd pick her again if I decided to do anything else.
