Acne/Rash?

kschissler21

So since I took the splint off my face has broken out so badly I am pretty sure it's acne but it's so bad it almost looks like a rash!! Has anyone experienced this or heard of this? I'm acne prone but shoot not this bad!

Other then that I'm doing good, still swollen. Little tender to the touch. Tip is still numb. All normal to be expected things. This week I am supposed to massage my nose twice a day, that should be fun!

My skin broke out too after the splint removal, I had to pay a visit to a dermatologist. He prescribed me some pills and some cream, to be started tomorrow! Hopefully it goes down, because it got real bad! So don't worry, you're not the only one!

I feel better that I am not the only one. What medication did he give you?

I was prescribed doxycycline (pills) to be taken twice daily and the Tretinoin (cream) to be applied every night. I started this today so I'm hoping it works because I broke out everywhere :(

I work for an Internal Medicine doctor and I just asked him to prescribe something and he also recommended doxycycline, so I am going to try those. I currently use Tretinoin as my normal routine which usually does the trick so you should be good with both. Good luck!

That gives me some relief! I'm a little worried because my dermatologist put me on the doxycyclin for three months...I really hope it doesn't take that long!!

Yeah I spoke to the Dr I work for, he said it could take awhile! Shoot! Hope not. Teton A should help you though if you've never been on it.

Eek, a rash is no fun. Maybe see your doctor? See if he can recommend anything? You're looking real good sister!

My nose was peeling, oily and full of blackheads after cast removal. 3 months post op my skin is still not back to normal. I just ordered some facial stuff. Hopefully it helps. I'm interested to know what is the massaging suppose to do? What is the technique? Btw your nose looks really good:)
January 5, 2015
TY! :) Massaging helps the build up from the bone reforming to break up and form without lumps.
January 6, 2015
Nice:) its amazing how every surgeon gives different post op care. My doctor had me wear my cast for 9 days, no taping, no massaging or no injections. I hope our end result is beautiful. I hope your skin gets better soon :)

Yes it appears to be normal. I also thought I was developing a rash so I gave it a few days and it kept spreading again. At that point I was still paranoid about touching my nose and when I did, it felt like I was touching a piece of wood, no feeling whatsoever. So I started running luke warm water on my nose and very gentle massaging it. So after 15 minutes I managed to get all the dead skin off and my nose was back to normal.

Yeah my nose is peeling too but it's my forehead that is full of what looks like an acne rash almost, it's weird. My Dr. says when you have facial surgery it changes a lot of things with your skin. I use acne skin care and I just started back up with it about a week ago since my surgery so I wonder if not washing my face for a few weeks just triggered my acne.

That's so interesting. So that explains why my face peels more often than it did prior to surgery. I feel like I have to wash my face more often. I also use shiseido deep cleansing as I have oily skin.

stitches came out today!

kschissler21
stitches came out today very happy I don't feel like I have long hairs coming out of my nose. I'm healing up right on track. Could be 6-8 weeks before I notice any big changes but little ones weekly. Now we wait... Feeling very anxious

I can see the swelling but I guess only because I am also a rhino patient ;) Your nose already looks pretty and it is even getting better the next weeks. Hope you feel happy already.

The waiting game :( I know it sucks but just picture yourself in summer 2015 with your new nose :) you are going to love it :) everytime I fell to down or stress I look at my before pictures it makes me see the difference and I say to myself I could totally wait a few months. Can't wait to see your final results :) ♡

Your tip looks swollen, but at least you know it's just swelling! Have you considered taping overnight?
