Almost a year later

This is not to warn you off or make you think it's not worth the money.

For the past nine months, my husband has declared himself in love with Mona Lisa. However, for the last two times we've been intimate there's been a bit of pain on my part. NOTHING like it had been before my initial treatments, but enough to warrant me being scared to try. I didn't want to get back to the point I never wanted sex again. After talking with the PA we decided to do another treatment. It was yesterday, so we'll wait another two days or so before trying to have sex. Just know there are women who this does not solve 100% forever. I am one and you may be too. I only wish the treatments were a lower price if you need the annual re-treatment. I may look for another office in the area who is less expensive.

Just don't be put off if you're one who needs the annual treatment too. It's still worth the money.

Had the last treatment, happy I stuck to it

After the second treatment I started to get worried this procedure wouldn't work after all. Husband and I waited the required week after the treatment before we tried again. I had been expecting greater results after the second treatment but my expectations were not met. The forwards steps we'd realized after one treatment were no longer present. I was so disappointed. But I'd already paid for three treatments and figured it couldn't hurt to finish the series. So I did.

Third treatment was two weeks ago and I'm so happy I stuck with it! So is my husband. Already having had intercourse three times in the past week (2X more than the previous six weeks) and though the first time had a little twinge of pain I think it was because I was so apprehensive about the previous effort. The last two were pain-free with no lube required. The treatment doesn't work for everyone, but it works for many - me included. I'm glad I did it, and I'm glad I paid the money.

In my late 40's I started having problems with...

In my late 40's I started having problems with intercourse. In the beginning there was discomfort, then dryness, and for the past year it was like I was being penetrated with ground glass. I was using Estrace with very little success and a lot of mess. Between the mess, the pain, and the dryness I had absolutely no interest in sex. Lots of people said "Oh, you just need lube!" Well, no - that didn't help. I read the Washington Post article about this procedure, then I sent it to my husband to read. He told me he didn't care how much it cost. If I thought it may help and wanted to try then schedule the consult.
I've had one treatment so far and for me it was not painless. The numbing agent hurt like hell and due to the atrophy the penetration of the laser was very uncomfortable. Once the numbing agent wore off it was painful to sit regularly in a chair and after two days I was itching like crazy - I figured it was the healing process. BUT, I've noticed a big (positive) difference with just one treatment. I'm scheduled to have my second treatment this week, but can report that intimacy is no longer painful.

The NP who did my consult was very thorough in asking questions, but her tone made me think I would not be a candidate for the procedure. But at the end of the consult I was happy to hear her tell me to schedule the treatment. This may just be my perception, but it was no problem during the first treatment. She and the tech were very gentle and reassuring.
