MUST Recommend in Toronto (BEST in Consult Experience, Price and Result)
Dr. Wanzel is fanatic (!!!), I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to get this procedure done.
[about me]
I've been self conscious about my labia minor for as long as I can remember. I've gotten comments from past sexual partners and I don't feel as confident as I can be. I've researched this procedure for 6 years now and finally decided to do something about it this year. Also did not tell anyone about this, so I'm doing this alone.
[consult]
I had 4 consultations in Toronto with different surgeons: Dr. Kyle Wanzel, Dr. Leila Kasrai, Dr. Stephanie Powers and Toronto Cosmetic Centre. I need to feel comfortable with the surgeon and wanted to makes sure I was making the best possible decision. Let's say I'm one of those people that will ask 30 questions before buying anything, I know I'm annoying but hey it's my body, so I need to know. 3 things that I value in this: consult experience, price and results
1) Consult experience - I was most impressed with Dr. Kyle Wanzel as not only did he explained the surgery in detail but answered all of my questions with patience and kindness, showed he was highly knowledgable but also a good person. The other Doctors were very impatient with me and I sensed annoyance in their tone or just a rush to cut the appointment short. Dr. Wanzel was clearly the best consult experience in terms of knowledge and patience.
2) Results - you can never judge any results until it actually happens, but I was basing it off before/after pictures. I was most impressive with his
3) Price - he was also the most affordable for quotes. It cost me $2,600 with him vs. ($3,600-$4,500) with the rest. I was very impressed as he actually decreased the price because a portion my labia minor did not need to be trimmed. He is honest with his pricing
[pre-op preperation]
In retrospect, I over prepared but these would be the main things that were helpful in my recovery:
1) squeeze bottle - to use whenever I urinate for cleaning
2) small mirror - so I can monitor progress
3) baby wipes - used after swelling as gone day for cleaning
4) maxi pads - I drizzled water onto the pads and but them in the freezer
5) cold compress - 2 to rotate for icing day 1-3
6) polysporin - apply 4 time daily
7) supplements - can consider using arnica, vitamin c and zin
8) healthy pre-pared food - for day 1-3 as you'll be lazy
[day of surgery]
Arrived at St. Joseph hospital, changed into a gown and got local freezing in the area. The initial injection was the most painful part of the entire experience. Pain level 7/10, I'd say it hurt a bit more than a piercing. Dr. Kyle Wanzel walked me through the entire experience, from cleaning, to injection, cutting and sealing. He described everything in detail and that made me feel comfortable. Once the freezing kicked in, you really can't feel anything other than the temperature of the tools and the slight pulls for the stitching. You're also allowed to use your phone at that time. Once that procedure was done, the nurse gave me a pad and he wrote me prescription for antibiotics and pain meds. I walked down the hall (30 seconds) to reach the pharmacy then took an uber home so I can eat & ice ASAP.
[post-op & recovery]
Day 0) 2 hours in, I started to feel slight pain so I took some extra strength advil. Really wanted to stay away from narcotics unless I was in a lot of pain. I was icing religiously, on and off for 20 mins and taking advil every 6 hours. Had trouble seeping that night not because of the pain but because I was trying to sleep on my back without movement.
The results already look great, I was happy, no more flaps.
Day 1 to 4 - Mild swelling, I was expecting ALOT worse but it actually isn't too bad. Not painful, I had to take Advil for Day 1 and that was it, the rest of the time it feels like cramps. The swelling was the worst on Day 2/3 but it got better as each day passed. I was bed resting the entire time until Day 4 when I started walking around the apartment. If you can, take a week off work to recover. Not that you need it physically, but mentally.
Day 6 (today) - it looks fantastic, WOW. Can barely recognize from just a week ago. Still slight swelling but and the stitches are a bit uncomfortable, but nothing that I can't handle. Will continue to give updates.
[overall thoughts]
Why did I wait so long to do this? and Why did I make such a big deal about the pain and recovery process!! I thought it was going to be HELL but it wasn't bad at all. I'm more than pleased with the results and again, Dr. Kyle Wanzel is excellent!
