Labiaplasty in New York City!
Hello all, yesterday 8/18/2020, I had a Labiaplasty done with Dr. Swift in NYC. He's an amazing doctor and his staff is just as amazing. Ever since I was 8 or 9 years old, I noticed that I had large labia minoras -- they hung pass but labia majoras and one was even longer than the other. They were uncomfortable and I often found myself struggling with certain activities and clothes. I also dealt with chaffing whenever my panties rubbed against it, which would make walking uncomfortable as well. I thought this was something I would have to live with until I discovered the Labiaplasty procedures a few years back. I was so thrilled and knew that I wanted to get this done because it wasn't only affecting my daily life, it was affecting my love life as well. I was super self-conscious about my vagina and how it looked -- which in turn, lowered my self esteem.
A few weeks ago, I finally decided I wanted it done. So I came on real self and decided to look at reviews from different doctors; I came across Dr. Richard Swift. I started looking at his before and after pictures and I fell in love with the way he "designed" vaginas (LOL). So I sent a consultation request via RealSelf that Friday evening and by Monday morning, I received an email from his assistant/coordinator Anastasia. She is such a doll, and so sweet! We emailed back and forth and she answered all my questions; she managed to get me a consultation for the following day.
When I arrived at Dr. Swift's Private practice on Park Avenue, It was very nice. Anastasia greeted me with the warmest smile and I filled out paperwork. The office is very welcoming, and the music they play is so nice. After I filled out my paperwork, I waited about 10-15 mins and was walked to the consultation room. They even let my mother (who accompanies me everywhere lol) come into the room with me. She ask me to change into a robe and that Dr. Swift will be in shortly. I was a little anxious because I was showing my vag but when Dr. Swift came in, he was so welcoming that he immediately put me to ease. He gives great conversation and made me feel very comfortable. During the consultation he looked at my labia and gave me a mirror so I can see as well, we spoke about how the Labiaplasty is a very popular procedure at his office and that he does them a few times every week. He also spoke about how he doesn't usually like to do the "wedge method" and likes to use a particular method that gives a better and smoother results. The consultation went great, and I was sold. We also discussed anesthesia, and he said while general anesthesia can be administered, it is mostly done through an oral sedative and local anesthesia. I decided to just do the local anesthesia for two reasons: 1. I didn't want to be put to sleep and 2. I am on a time constraint because I go back to work soon, and I would not be able to get a sooner appointment.
After I put my clothes on, I was put into an office to discuss how much the procedure cost and what to expect pre-op and post-op. I knew I wanted it done ASAP. The procedure cost $4,500 but Anastasia shaved off $500 for me because I was scheduling sooner rather than later. So I paid my money right then and there and scheduled my surgery for a week later.
The day before the procedure, Anastasia emailed me that morning to let me know that she put my prescriptions in and that they would be ready to be picked up in about an hour. I had a small issue with one of the medications and reached it to Anastasia that evening. Even though they were closed, Anastasia still replied back to me within 5 minutes of me sending that email. The communication with this place is great this far. If I have a question, Anastasia answers back in a prompt manner!
The morning of the procedure, I had to take an antibiotic an hour or two prior to my arrival at the office. I also had to take my oral sedative when I got the office. I was the first surgery of the day and I was anxious but excited lol -- the Valium helped me relax though.
The procedure itself was not as painful as I thought it was going to be. On a scale from 1-10, where 10 is painful, I will say it was about a 4. The most uncomfortable parts for me was when he was injecting the numbing agent and when he was stopping bleeding (I'm unsure of the medical term, I think they call it cauterizing the veins). Other than that, everything went smoothly. If I jumped or if I felt the slightest pain, Dr. Swift immediately put more numbing solution in the area. He's very nice, and takes his time. I'm calling him the MASTER LABIAPLASTITIER lmao. Another assistant was in there with me for support. She was super sweet and held my hand during the procedure. At the end of the procedure, she was more than willing to take my before and after pictures on my phone and she even took a picture of the skin he removed. I love my vagina the minute I got off the table. He told me that it's swollen so it may look a little weird, but with time it will go down. I loved how it looked right than and there, it was a huge difference.
At the end of the procedure, I felt great. I did not feel any pain and was walking normally. Maybe it was in my mind, but my vagina even felt lighter lol. I would say the pain did not start kicking in until an hour after the procedure. I started to feel uncomfortable. On a scale from 1-10 I'll say the pain when I got home was about an 8. However, Dr. Swift gave me pain killers and I took them. The first day is hard, it's painful. It's hard to walk because your vagina is swollen and it hurts because of the incisions. But I took my pain meds and I also iced the area. The first night wasn't bad, I managed to sleep through the night.
Today is the day after the procedure, and right now I am not feeling any discomfort. I'm continuing to ice the area and take my pain pills. I will be updating on my recovery as well. Tomorrow I have my first post-op appointment, and will update you all on that as well.
However, my experience with Dr. Swift and his team have been great thus far. I am pleased with my results right now and he's changed my life.
