Trigger Warning- Sexual Assault:
Hi! Today I got labiaplasty! I've always had a larger labia as a kid and it made me extremely self conscious. I didn't look like any of my friends and they would even ask me why mine was like the way it was. Which was simply just genetics. Then 2 years ago I was assaulted and it resulted in a 2 1/2 cm tear in my labia. I had gotten stitches but during the healing process two of them popped and it did not heal correctly. Which made my already large labia look like I had 3 of them... which was HORRIFYING for me to look at, and made sex very painful from the friction.
Dr. Boyle was absolutely amazing and supportive as soon as I met her. She was so kind and reassuring. She even waved part of her surgical fee due to my assault since my insurance ruled it a cosmetic surgery anyway and I would have to pay out of pocket. I met with her about 7 months ago, and took the time to save up for it. When I had originally had my stitches done it put me in such a deep depression because I felt I would never be able to afford something like this surgery, but she helped and encouraged me so much. I wouldn't have thought that I could do this for myself at 22 and it's a dream come true.
I've honestly been so scared of getting this surgery, which is saying a lot because I had a lot of surgeries as a kid due to my health. Her surgical team was so friendly and took the time to really go over everything in depth and talk to my parents when they had questions. So much care and reassurance, and I haven't seen that in an operating room very often.
Today is day 1- WOW! I am not in nearly as much pain as I thought I would be! Not sure if that's because of the local anesthetic but we shall see tomorrow. I know day 2-3 is more difficult with swelling and such. I feel comfortable enough to walk to the bathroom, I just have a little bit of a waddle. It does not burn when I urinate. I have changed my dressings twice so far because there is some blood. I already see a HUGE difference which is so exciting! Even with the swelling it's already feeling so different than what I am used to. I am VERY excited for the end results.
I don't know how I didn't take any before pictures... well actually I do, it's because I HATED looking at it and avoided it in every possible photo ever even if it was documentation purposes. But I shall upload my healing process and update daily!

Hi! I just posted today's update with photo and video. Day #2 is kicking my butt more than day #1, but it's still not nearly as painful as I expected.

can you PLEASE post your before photos?

I tried so hard to find something but I really don't have any, because I am a dummy. I signed off on video and photo recording during my procedure so I will call my doctor and see if she has anything for me!

Day #2

Sweet.Milk
Hey guys, sorry I really looked and I don’t have any before pictures! Which is crazy because I deliberately took one a few weeks ago and I know I deleted it because it just made me so uncomfortable just scrolling past it in my phone. ??????
Today I am a bit more swollen than yesterday, yes there is more pain. I would assume from the local anesthetic wearing off like I said in my post yesterday. However, it is still not as bad as I thought it would be. Honestly the worst part about it is just sleeping on my back and not being able to be on my side. The bag of frozen pees is definitely also saving my life. There is still bleeding going on, I’m posting a picture of my gauze today as well. There is also bruising starting to show up. Still no burn while urinating though and for the most part I’m pretty comfy while taking the pain meds. I still feel okay walking to the bathroom and kitchen. But definitely feeling worse than I did yesterday. On a scale of 1-10 I’m a solid 7. It’s constant pain, but it’s a throbbing type of pain. It doesn’t sting or burn. It’s just very sensitive to any pressure or movement. Still happy, still feeling pleased.

Of course! I plan to update daily for the next 7 days and then every few days after that once it's healed and such. I was very scared going into this surgery, more scared than any other surgery I've had, and I've had a lot. I think what made me so scared was that this was the first surgery I have had where the wound was like external. I've had my gall bladder removed, vascular stints put in, and other various things but like everything is healing under the surface in those surgeries. And this is an exposed wound and so sensitive. So that's why I think I was so scared, and for the fact that I've been waiting for it for so long and that it was finally happening. But honestly, the pain is not nearly what I expected it to be. I do personally have a high pain tolerance, but this is really not nearly as bad as I thought. Also no I did not take specifically vitamin C/arnica before my surgery, however I did start the line of "love wellness" probiotics about a month ago. It's a line of vitamins specifically for vaginal health and I will say I noticed a big difference with my vagina before I even had the surgery, and I think it definitely helped my vagina be in the best health possible getting ready for this. I would highly recommend their products in general. I bought the "triple threat" package. There's "the killer" which is good if you are prone to infections (which I was because of the rip), and you take that one as needed. Then there's the "good girl probiotic" which has 8 natural occurring bacteria's that completely balance out your PH and help with the overall condition and health. And the last one was the "perfect condition vitamin" which does have vitamin C, turmeric, coconut oil, grapefruit seed extract, garlic, boron etc etc etc...

And did you use arnicapills and vitamine c before you went for surgery?

Day 3

Sweet.Milk
Hi! Today I was allowed to clean ugh some peroxide. I gif the spray bottle kind that’s like a light mist and I misted it over my stitches. No burning or anything and then I wiped it away with a witch hazel cleansing cloth (I read in some other girls reviews that these were soothing). There is still swelling and bruising. I could not remove all of the blood when I was cleaning but I didn’t want to poke at it too much. Not nearly as much blood on my gauze today when I woke up and I slept through the night much easier. I now feel comfortable enough to remove the surgery shorts that I’ve been wearing that hold my gauze in place And switch to pads with cotton underwear. I wanted to mention that every time I change my gauze I’ve been slathering a generous layer of aquaphor onto the surface of the gauze. I have not put it directly into my skin because I don’t want to touch the wounds with my hands much but this seems to be REALLY helping. I am now going to switch from gauze to pads I think. I have regular pads, and then I bought some pads from “the honey pot company” which is a plant based feminine care company. These pads have plant extracts infused in them- mint (for cooling), lavender (for calming), and aloe (for soothing). I am going to try these today with the aquaphor still layered on top of it.
Pain is less than yesterday, but I’m still icing pretty much every 30 min and not getting out of bed unless it is to the bathroom. I have done ZERO stairs also. Thought I should mention that. It is also still more swollen than day 1 and bruising is still developing. I might make a second update today to see how the products I’m using are doing and what my reaction to them is.
