Dr. Pousti did my "mommy makeover" 5 years ago...

WORTH IT
Dr. Pousti did my "mommy makeover" 5 years ago when I was 41 years old, 5'5", 130 lbs and a "buh" cup, meaning I was too big for an A but couldn't fill out a B. After 3 children my ab muscles were shot and surprisingly the skin wasn't saggy, but I still I looked like I was 5 months pregnant. My breasts were smallish but not saggy or deflated. My goal was to look like myself only slightly enhanced so I asked for a full C cup at the absolute maximum. I awoke with what seemed like gigantic breasts, but I was repeatedly reassured by Dr. Pousti and his staff that they just "seemed too big" and to give it time for the implants to drop. They did, and when I went to buy an actual bra I nearly dropped my teeth when I was measured as a full D cup. I discussed this with Dr. Pousti who offered to waive the surgeon's fee (I still had to pay for the anesthesiologist and surgery center) to change out the implants for something smaller, but I declined because I was still recovering from the tummy tuck. BTW ladies, that procedure is NO JOKE. Full disclosure: even though I was angry with Dr. Pousti for making my breasts bigger than I had CLEARLY specified, I was even more angry with myself for doing it in the first place because I caved in to the urging of my husband to get them enhanced. So I decided to move on and make the best of it.

Fast forward 5 years. I am now 46 years old, still 5'5" but am up to 150 lbs thanks to the hormone fluctuations compliments of perimenopause. And wine. I'd like to blame it all on the hormones but 6 oz curls with a glass of wine didn't do me any favors. And let's face it, full-on menopause is around the corner and this 150 lb body may indeed be my new reality ... along with my breasts spilling out of a (yes) DD bra. This weight gain has made my breasts even bigger, so big they can't be squished into submission by a sports bra any more. So big they caught the attention of every male, including my 3 boys ages 11, 9 and 7 and ALL of their friends. It was time.

For months I researched breast implant removal: the actual procedure, anesthesia, outcome, costs, etc. and decided to give Dr. Pousti a chance to redeem himself. And boy did he. He owned the fact he shouldn't have gone bigger than I had requested 5 years earlier and then made good on his original offer to waive the surgeon's fee. He instructed his staff to squeeze me in for surgery ASAP and 4 days later I was implant free.

That was two months ago and I'm thrilled with the results. Dr. Pousti even revised my nipple scars to remove a 1/4 inch wedge of scar tissue between the nipple and the regular skin. Now there is just a hairline incision scar. Once I receive the before and after photos from Dr. Pousti's office I will post them with my review.

Dr. Pousti and his staff are caring, competent and patient to the nth degree. They called every day after the surgery and answered every question I had. My only complaint is the implant size chosen by Dr. Pousti 5 years ago.

Congratulations on making the decision and feeling so good now that its done. I would like to remove mine but dread another recovery. So trying to plan better than I did with my original BA. Can you share more about how recovery went for you? How much time youd recommend planning for? Thank you!

If you don't mind, what is the charge for implant removal?
