At 31 years of age, I had never spent my younger years coveting large breasts. I was completely comfortable with my 32 b's…..albeit not ecstatic about them…. but whatever I felt I was lacking in certain outfits could usually be remedied with a push-up bra. One day as I was trying on old outfits in an effort to clean out my closet, it occurred to me that larger breasts would transform my entire look. My decision to get my breasts augmented had little to do with a dissatisfaction with my smaller breasts; what prompted me to have the surgery had more to do with just wanting a change. I had spent a great deal of my life becoming educated and cultivating a personality; now I wanted to know what it was like to have décolletage.

If someone had asked me six months before I got my breasts done whether I would ever get implants, my response was have been, "absolutely not". There was something about having a foreign object implanted into my body that didn't sit well with me. After doing some research, I decided that I wanted the silicone gummy implants. A lot of my friends had already had their breasts done, sometimes multiple times, but no one I personally knew had had this type of implant before. One of my fears was that an implant would rupture; I have also known a few people that this has happened to. Knowing that the gummy implant would not leak into my body somehow comforted me in the case that something went wrong.

I was willing to go anywhere in the country to get my surgery done, as long as I felt comfortable with the surgeon's abilities. Fortunately for me, I only had to travel from Los Angeles to San Diego. I began to look up doctor's websites in order to compare their before and after pictures. Dr. Pousti is the only doctor that I came across during my research that had over 1000 before and after pictures to compare. Going through his work, I only found a few examples in the "after" portion that I didn't think looked amazing. If, however, I compared the "after" with the "before", I found that in every single instance the "before" was a real mess and the "after" was a spectacular improvement. Other doctor's websites either didn't have very many before and afters up, or I just wasn't that impressed by the consistency of the work. Dr. Pousti, on the other hand, had consistently great work, and those are just the examples that were permitted to be shown on his site.

Before going into Dr. Pousti's office, I had already decided that I wanted him to be the one to do my surgery, so the fact that him and his staff were informative, knowledgable and friendly was an added bonus. I wanted to schedule my surgery immediately, but I wasn't able to get in for a week and a half or so. The doctor and his staff attempted to show me videos and other materials regarding my surgery, but I don't fare well with watching anything that involves blood. They also had me try their 3-d imaging machine. This machine helped me figure out what size would be appropriate for my body. In theory, I would have been happy making my breasts a full C. I didn't want really large breasts, I just wanted enough for cleavage and to fill out my clothes. Because of the gap in my breast plate and the larger size of my nipples, however, anything smaller than a D would have left my breasts looking a little awkward. Before seeing my breasts in the 3-d imagine machine, I had no idea that one of my breasts was noticeably larger than the other. Also, while my breasts weren't sagging, they looked a little deflated. This wasn't caused by childbirth or weight loss, this is just how they had always been. in order to get the fuller look that I wanted, I needed to go a little bigger than a C. (Let me just note that the way my breasts looked after the surgery was actually better than how they looked on the 3-d imagine machine, so consider the imaging machine as a tool to get a general idea of how a size will look on your body. Your results might actually turn out better.)

I asked Dr. Pousti to make the decision for me regarding how many cc's I would have based on how much would be needed to make my breasts look proportionate to the rest of my body. Initially when the staff was showing me implant sizes, I wanted to opt for a smaller implant. I was told that the smaller implants would look even smaller upon insertion because I was going under the muscle. I don't remember how many cc's I ended up with but I know it ended up being twice as much as I thought I wanted to begin with. I went from a 32 b to a 32 dd. 32dd still sounds large to me, but now that I have them I don't feel like they are too big. If I wear a bra with no padding, people are surprised when they find out my size because they assume I'm a large C or a D. When I am naked, I noticed that the size of my breasts are now in a good proportion to the size of my nipples. If my breasts were smaller, my nipples would still look too large for my breasts. I'm glad I trusted Dr. Pousti to make the final decision regarding the cc's he used. Before allowing him to make this decision, we had a few different talks about what I wanted my breasts to look like and what look I was going form. I also showed him pictures of the look I wanted.

I thought the healing process was going to be a lot worse than it was. I slept and rested for the first week and found that I was sore, but nothing major. Over the first four or five months, I found myself massaging my breasts all the time. Any time my muscles in my chest would feel tight, I would massage them until they felt like they didn't need to be massaged any more. Im nine months post op and I still do this, though I do it with less frequency than I did the first few months post op.

I couldn't be happier with my new breasts. I'm glad I didn't get them earlier in life, but now that I have them I can't imagine not having them. I'm able to wear things that never looked right on me before, and it almost feels like I have a whole new wardrobe because all of my old stuff fits differently. I was expecting to not be able to fit into some things after my surgery, thinking that my breasts would be too big for them now. This hasn't really been an issue. Even some of the tighter tops I had when my breasts were small still fit with my dd's.

Im really grateful that I found a doctor that I felt comfortable with that also performs these surgeries regularly because practice makes perfect and I couldn't be happier with my results. I would recommend Dr. Pousti to anyone and urge anyone to at least check out his website or go to a consultation before making a decision regarding who they want their doctor to be.

Great story, thank you for sharing :) I went to Dr. Pousti because he specializes in XL implants, but his skill in breast lifts and natural looking implants are also outstanding.
