I have always had a weak chin and an underbite. Unfortunately I was unable to get jaw surgery when I was younger to correct my bite and because of that my chin always bothered me. It was mainly my profile view that I was insecure about. For years I contemplated having a chin implant and there was a brief moment in time when I was working in an office alone so what better time to get my surgery done. I searched hard and found Dr. Kolstad. He was AMAZING and I've recommended him to my family & friends. It's been over 8 months now and I continue to be happy with my decision!
Initially, it was not very pleasant. It wasn't exactly painful but the second day my face just felt very tight. Like your skin doesn't fit your face. Makes sense since there is this abnormal object inside of your body! There was bruising. I was heavily bandaged on my chin so I didn't mess with the area too much. I slept with an airplane pillow and frozen peas 24/7. After about four days I got stir crazy and walked around my neighborhood. I felt great after just a few days! My surgery was Monday or Tuesday and Dr. Kolstad made himself available on Saturday to remove my bandage because I needed to go to a work conference on Monday (seriously - AMAZING! What doctor does that?!). When he took the bandage off I was SO HAPPY! My face was still swollen and the scar was somewhat evident but not ridiculously so. I went out with a friend for margaritas after and was seriously so in love!
The swelling took another couple weeks to not be so evident (to me). When I went to work on Monday people noticed something looked different but they couldn't quite put their finger on it. My scar has healed so well it's barely noticeable and I am extremely happy with my decision. If you've been thinking about it, do it! So worth it!
