Another Late Seroma
Well, it’s back. Had mammogram and ultrasound last week thinking that I must have another serious fluid P.O. met that would have to have to be drained. What a pain! Well, much to my surprise, the breast center wouldn’t drain the pocket and is requiring me to get a second opinion from a plastic surgeon. They said some thing is really wrong and, rather than a moderate-sized pocket around 1 to 2 o’clock, this time it’s around the entire breast. The initial thought is that it may have to come out! I wish my original plastic surgeon had listened to me when I told her it didn’t feel correct, that it felt unstable. My appointment with the plastic surgeon is tomorrow (Monday) morning at 9 am. I’m scared and, frankly in a good deal of pain and discomfort. Using the method I used last time to measure, the left breast is over two inches larger than the right measured from mid sternum over the nipple to the outside edge of the breast. Wearing bras is so uncomfortable because the left is so much bigger and yesterday I went back to surgical bras because they don’t hurt as bad. This is miserable.
Late Seroma
December 16, 2016 - Asked Nurse Ruth at a follow-up appt to consult with Dr Saltz and let me know what we're looking at cost-wise to revise my left great.
December 27, 2016 - Followed up since I hadn’t gotten a response stating that I was looking forward to getting this thing (left breast) fixed. Nurse Ruth had prescribed a steroid pack and asked if that helped. Left seems a little softer. I'm on the second to last day of the roofs. Left is still as unstable feeling as ever. Based on the photos I sent, Dr. Saltz says they "don't look that different," but Nurse Ruth explained to her it's more how it feels than looks. It can be brought up, but Dr.Saltz is concerned that it won't make it feel any better. I was told that a stitch orvtwo is all it would take to tighten the pocket and likely get rid of this whole problem.... Nurse Ruth is going to see how much Dr. Saltz will charge, as she guesses the stitches will help but said I t's all in how she phrases it.... what the heck? I just want this thing to feel stable. This is miserable.
April 3, 2017 - Texted Nurse Ruth that my left breast is inflated and visibly larger than the right. I measured them and it's 1.5 inches larger from edge over nipple to sternum versus the left. Not especially hot, but definitely sensitive to pressure. I asked for any ideas on how to remedy it. She asked if I had had any recent infections in the rest of my body and whether it felt heavy like fluid. I responded that it is quite heavy but that I didn’t know what fluid would feel like. She said it almost looks bruised and asked if I had started any new exercises (?). She advised that I see my OB/GYN and have an ultrasound to see if they see anything unusual. It's unlikely to be blood but occasionally people will develop fluid pockets. She prescribed another round of steroids to get the swelling down.
April 28, 2017 - Had mammogram and ultrasound. Dr says there's herniation around left implant. Still swollen. She said next step is an MRI, but that needs to be ordered by my primary or plastic surgeon.
May 9, 3017, - MRI showed significant serous fluid pocket. Going in Friday for ultrasound and biopsy to rule out BIA-ALCL
5/12/2017 - An ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration was performed for the left breast peri-implant fluid collection. The abnormality was approached from the lateral aspect. A peri-implant fluid pocket was targeted at the 1 o'clock position in the left breast, 10 cm from the nipple. A 18 gauge needle was percutaneously placed into the abnormality under ultrasound guidance. Once the needle was documented to be in the correct location, 60ml of serosanguinous fluid was aspirated. The peri-implant fluid collection at this site completely resolved following the aspiration. The aspirated fluid was sent to the laboratory for cytological analysis and for flow cytometry.
May 16, 2017 - Cytology revealed benign findings (blood, including small lymphocytes and macrophages; no abnormal B or T cell populations), concordant with recent imaging findings.

Update
I spoke with my Doctor via her nurse yesterday. Her nurse's initial thought was that Dr. Saltz might have made a slight adjustment to the fold on the left side to match the right but since there were no notes to indicate that possibility, it was ruled out. Dr. Saltz and her nurse Ruth looked over some pictures I sent and the consensus is that the left breast shape and tenderness is likely just its current position irritating the ribs and causing swelling. I was instructed to start taking 600 mg of Ibuprofen every six hours. I've been doing just that since yesterday morning and there has been some improvement. It is no longer as tender or swollen, so I have great hope that this issue is not really an issue and will clear up soon.
One other thing, waiting for sex and before exercising sucks. With the new and improved upper frame, I really want to work out and get the lower section in bikini-ready shape.
I'm also totally over surgical bras and can't wait to frame my pretty new breasts in beautiful bras from Intimacy (courtesy of my very generous husband who spoils me).
All first world problems.....
