Breast Lift with Augmentation, 1 Week Post Op - La Jolla, CA

Currently one week postoperative and haven't been excited about this process once. I am still in so much pain I can't even look forward to what the end result will be. I have had two kids and recovered from both natural births way easier than this surgery. Very discouraging for me as I was convinced I would be good to go within a few days. Maybe I expect too much from myself. My dr and nurses have been amazing with me up to this point. Going in tomorrow for a re tape and check up. Hoping for the magic pill too make this all better. Once I find it, I promise to share :)
Taking the prescribed Percocet has made me extremely constipated which is a whole new issue itself. Finally drank some m.o.m. And that helped wonders. I'm really hoping this pain subsides, and fast as I have better things to do then be sore lol
I'm also really loving (don't forget to sense sarcasm in the word love) the fact that I can't freaking shave my arm pits cuz it hurts to lift arms that high still. I might just have to up and move to a different country to fit in. My implants are sitting so extremely high that I fear I will have to wear turtlenecks to work for the next few weeks so I'm not mistaken for a prostitute. Also, this sleeping thing needs to change. I can't sleep anymore with 23 pillows supporting me at all times. That's too much commitment for me, I like to be free and roll around my bed with single pillow in tow. I almost feel like I need to hire a bodyguard to watch my 23 pillow jenga game that it looks like I play every night, solo. Armpit pain, you can also leave at any time. Also, who keeps getting horrible pressure throbbing after sleeping/propping yourself up for longer than 15 min?! That can get the hell out of here too. Ughhh! I think I'm done venting for the night. Hope everyone else is not miserable like I am. Night!
Oh and btw 400cc right, 425cc left, silicone mentor mod profile implants under the muscle.

Have patience, I was feeling the same way it all gets better WAY better. The first month is a very emotional roller coaster, I thought I was going to be perfect after a couple of days that's not and was not the case. I am a month post and still sleep on a mound of pillows. Stay positive you will improve.

Thanks for the inspiration ladies. Things seem to be getting worse before for me. Last night I was horribly nauseous and could not quit dry heeving and it caused me a massive hematoma. Needless to say 230 am I was Back in that operarating room to remove 450cc of blood surrounding my implant. Most horrible pain I have had since. I am soo beyond discouraged cuz now i am back from 10 days post op to 1 again. I can not quit cring I am so upset over this whole thing.

So sorry to hear; that is so unfortunate and I hope you have someone close by to be with you. I can only hope you are now in your way to a better outcome!

Hi there sweetie. I too had a BL with BA (700cc Mentor smooth round silicone unders) and I'm a skosh over two weeks post op. Recovery for everyone is different. I've cried a lot. But my boobies are really starting to take some shape. They are still super high and partly into armpits, which makes shaving difficult, but with a lift you want your boobs up high as long as possible to prevent sagging once they settle into their pockets. Hang in there. It will get better. Feel free to look at my page and pics. Hugs!

Well I think we share the same facility for our surgery. I am 58 and just had the breast lift 2 weeks ago. The first week was the worst and for whatever the reason never expected it. I was always nauseated and couldn't sleep. I seized from taking the pain medication right away so I learned to grin and bare!!Went back to work on the fifth day but thank goodness I have an easy job. It wasn't til the 10th day I lost my nausea. My breasts are very tender and I had my second check and things are all normal but I'm learning you have to let nature take its course and be realistic with the healing process. I feel more myself which is probably a combination of no more medicine and emotional acceptance of what I just did to my body! I am more optimistic now. I think the whole procedure affected all my senses to the maximum. That is what I want others who contemplate the same surgery to know this May happen but you will feel normal just allow yourself adequate time.

Did you use saltz? All docs there are wonderful :)
March 16, 2014
I had Dr.Brahme; he and his staff excellent. For me, I think if there was more documentation on postoperative that would of been helpful in understanding what I was experiencing is "normal".

Everything you have described is normal...not sure why you didn't expect the recovery time to be several weeks, with several months before they reach their final positions and shape. You had surgery - nerves were cut through, and it takes weeks and months for them to regenerate completely. It would be bizarre for someone to cut you open, push large foreign bodies under your chest muscles, and for you to not have weeks of discomfort after. Read lots of reviews, and you might feel better about things. Most all of us experienced what you are experiencing now...it is all a part of the process. People do not sem to research the recovery period hardly at all, only the preparations and the actual surgery. You shouldn't be too active with your arms or chest for several weeks - too much activity or lifting or raising your arms high can cause hematomas, implants shifting, pockets not healing right, wider scars, and other complications. Now is a good time to take a few weeks off of heavy-duty housework or intense exercise or lifting children or anything. Rest and catch up on movies or good books...you will feel better in a few weeks. Sharp zinging pains will last a few months, though, as your nerves come back. Knowing what to expect takes much of the frustration out of the recovery process....

First surgery ever so I guess you can say I set my standards too high for a quick recovery. I was having a bad night and needed somewhere to vent, that's all.
March 16, 2014
I just feel bad that your PS didn't do a good job of patient education. It's really important, and it really helps set expectations. Best wishes to you!
March 16, 2014
Haha she knew me too well I think I didn't want to scare me off by the horror stories. I am in shock as to how painful this was for me but I just have to stay possitive and try to look at the long run. Thanks!
March 16, 2014
As surgeries go, this is very very simple and easy...glad you didn't have to do more! Lol! Just think about what was really done to your body, or watch one on YouTube. Any surgery is still surgery, with time to heal necessary afterwards.... Give yourself time to heal the slicing and dicing.... But it will be fine! Our bodies are resilient! :-)

I had Mentor 400cc unders, but had them with a tummy tuck at the same time. I hardly ever noticed any discomfort from the breasts because of the pain from the tummy tuck. That really slows a person down, walking hunched and sleeping bent in a recliner for over a month. Maybe that would've helped distract you.... :-)
March 16, 2014
Hahha no thanks on the tummy tuck. Those take a special bred of tough chicks. I am not one of those lol

I think some women just think it will be easier than expected because there's a big range of discomfort. I have a few friends who said it was a. Breeze after a couple of days and then others who swear it was so painfully awful. Everybody's body reacts and heals differently and everyone's pain tolerance is different. I'm preparing myself for excruciating pain so I won't be surprised if it is and so I will be super grateful of it isn't! Lol. I hope you feel a lot better soon!

I just told myself if I had two kids and was fine with recovery I would be good. Not the case tho. This pain is so different for me. Doesn't even compare.

Is it like a throbbing pain or sharp pains!
March 17, 2014
You didn't have skin, fat, nerves, and muscle sliced through before, plus objects inserted under the muscle.... Giving birth is nothing like that....
March 17, 2014
Very bad throbbing. Shooting pains in the armpit and feels to me as an elephant is sitting on my cheat and I can't take a deep breath.
