Had my Rhinoplasty w/rib cartilage graft at Aone Aesthetics last February 2017 and so far I am loving the results. I had a very thorough research before diving into the pool of "Aesthetics Centre" in Korea so I had to do my homework and choose the right clinic. I personally chose Dr. Kwon cos the clinic is being advertised by normal "ordinary" people, unlike the rest with all the celebs etc. Secondly, It is the only clinic (as far as I know) in Korea that would publish its surgical procedure (that speaks of confidence to its work) and not afraid that somebody would copy it. Lastly, I went to different clinics in Korea and most recommended a combination of silicon and ear cartilage graft but as far as my research is concern, silicon is a no-no. Your body will eventually reject it in due time. With Dr. Kwon, he recommended the rib cartilage harvest (that will be diced and become the bridge) with temporal fascia (coned and put the diced ribs inside to avoid warping). I tested Dr. Kwon by insisting that I wanted a Goretex for my bridge but he insisted that natural (rib cartilage & temporal facia) are the best materials to use and his clinic will NEVER do Silicon or Goretex. I was impressed by his response and recommendations that's totally aligned with my goal of using my own tissue rather than foreign objects because I don't want to regret my decision at the end. In addition, I thought rib cartilage harvest was scary but it wasn't. lol. I was sent to a hospital affiliated by Aone to do a MAJOR test (HIV, HEPA, XRAY, ECG, Blood etc). I was totally impressed because I am only doing a nosejob but tons of test are needed before the surgery. Lastly, (still in the hospital) they required me to have another Xray, so I said I just had one but the medical technologist said the last one is for the rib so that the Surgeon would know which part of the rib to harvest. I actually thought Dr. Kwon will harvest a big chunk but it turned out to be a very small one. I checked in the next day, saw many caucasians from Europe, States and Australia, also patients from China, Taiwan and Japan. I ate in morning and I starved (fasting) in the evening. The next morning, I was greeted with the nurse and told me to take a bath with a special pre operative body wash. Afterwards, two nurses came in and braided my hair. I asked why they are doing it and they told me its for Dr. Kwon to have an easy access to the temporal fascia. So it makes a lot of sense. At 10AM I was brought to the OR, Dr. Kwon, was present and so as the nurse and Dr. Choi (which is the anaesthetist that graduated from Seoul University - lol. I Did my research about her as well). She gave me an oxygen mask and told me to breath in and next thing I know I was being awaken by the nurse to transfer to my room. I immediately asked the nurse to hand me my mobile phone so that I can message my parents and inform them of the successful operation. I was served foods on the 1st day and on the 2nd day I was already feeling perfectly good. They gave antibiotic IV, Dextrose IV and the nurse would visit every morning and clean my nose, head (from the temporal fascia) and suture from the rib cartilage extraction. Dr. Kwon would visit every night and check on the progress of the operation. The staff would clean the room everyday, provide new sets of Yogurt drink, yogurt in a cup, orange juice etc. (yum lol). The staff would also bring you a new set of medical gown and pajamas. You literally don't need to bring clothes because everything is provided by the clinic. They would even shampoo your head (so that you wouldn't accidentally remove the sutures in your head). On the third day, they asked me to go for Sauna to remove the toxins of anesthesia and after you took your body bath they will ask you to enter a TUBE that will supply your body with oxygen (for around 30-45 minutes everyday) and finally you have to lay down for a Surgilight session that would make the wound heal faster. I stayed at Aone for 7 days and I didn't have any single regret. Yes, it's an hour far from soul but Aone is situated in a very good location BEST if you want a staycation experience far from the noise of the city. Oh I forgot that every Sunday will be BBQ/Steak day! Yep, they served juicy and tender steaks. Lol One should remember (i think you will always see it when you sign a document/quit claim before surgery) that the object of the cosmetic surgery is IMPROVEMENT "NOT" PERFECTION and a Surgery is NOT an EXACT SCIENCE therefore a surgeon could not guarantee a perfect result. People might be satisfied or be frustrated with their results but as the saying goes "to each his own". Peace out!
