Otoplasty - Stitch Method - Still Not Happy - Konstanz, DE

I had the stitch method done in 2007 and initially did improve the appearance of my protruding ears. But during surgery my right ear swelled up and so it was harder for the doctor it see or make sure the ears where symmetrical.
I am know 7 years post operation. I can say it is better than before. however, i am still not happy that the right ear looks different to the left ear, and did not like that the clinic did not take my worry seriously. Also there are limitations on the amount of "pinning" that can be achieved as it only pins the top/middle flap of the ear.
I am considering removing the stitches, with it hopefully making both ears look the same again. And then going the traditional method, as i believe the results will be more what I had expected.
Overall, the stitch method does work. But it depends on the type of protrusion you have, and how you want the final result to be. I had to travel to the clinic and was young, so I did not weigh out the options and conduct enough further research before going through the surgery.
Hope this helps.

The reasons for your dissatisfaction with the results cannot be assessed without before and after photos. Could you please post such photos and describe what you think should be improved on your ears? Were you operated on with the Dr. Merck Stitch Method? If you were, then it is possible to have the position of your ears easily altered with this method within the scope of a re-correction, and without having to cut open the ear.
I have attached photos of both ears and the threads that are causing lumps and irritations on my right ear. I does hurt after sleeping my my right ear at night and also using over-ear headphones.
As you can see on the right ear the helix is over the antihelix, which I find unnatural in comparison.
I would appreciate your advise on my situation, and how I am able to rectify the problem areas.
Regards,
Aaron
The solution to the problem is to go back to the surgeon that operated on you and ask him to remove the threads. If there is no inflammation in the ear, he can insert new threads in a different position in the same session. You should only go and see this surgeon as only he knows where he placed the existing threads.
unless you do a pic of your face straight forward we cant tell the results
