So I have finally made the decision to get a breast reduction! Not sure why I did not consider this sooner! I have been on this site for about a month now. I have had one consultation which was a nightmare! The surgeon told me I needed to be 107 pounds and that he won't do surgery if I am over 137 pounds, I was in tears as I have been working hard to lose weight and that seemed next to impossible to do(i have not weighed that much since I was 12!) I did not let that change my decision though, I called me insurance and they recommended a second opinion, I do have to drive almost 2 hours since he was only surgeon in my area, but I am super excited, as the new place has wonderful reviews.
Anyways, I am a size 38 k and I am 5 foot, I spoke to the PS office and they said my BMI needs to be 35 or below, so I have been dieting, working out and taking phentermine. I have lost 16 pounds so far and have 14 to go until my BMI is 35. My consultation is scheduled for January12. I am so nervous! I am almost positive I will be good candidate, I am just worried insurance will not approve me, or take forever to approve me! I want this so bad! I will post pictures of me now, hopefully I will be able to post afters!
What questions should I ask during my consultation?

Oh dear those surgeons sound so insensitive. BMI is such a stupid measurement anyways. Did you know a lot of bodybuilders get discriminated against medically because although they have no bodyfat, their muscles raise their body-mass-index higher than normal? And they aren't calculating that a lot of the mass you carry is in the ACTUAL CHEST YOU WANT THEM TO REMOVE! Unfair, I say. How are you doing emotionally with all of this? -Jill

I am doing great! I am optimistic, I think the new surgeon will be much better, the reviews seem to be good. I am I Just afraid I will not be approved by insurance, I am also concerned about how much work I could miss

My BMI is over 40 I loss over 65 pounds it seem that I can’t lose anymore. I’m also short they just consider that too. But I went to see a surgeon. 2 days later I got a letter from my insurance company saying I got approved and I was so surprised. My surgery is April 3rd 2019. But I have to do a preadmission testing.

Congratulations on your surgery, you look fabulous!!! I bet it is such a relief for you and you must feel one thousand times better. I do have a question for you as I am in the same boat. I go for a consultation on 2/9/16 (I am planning on post pone if we get the weather Wate is saying) but my appointment is in Knoxville/Powell (they have three locations). I hope it's not the same surgeon. I am 5 foot as well but I weigh 170 (ugh) and have 38I breats. I don't want to have to try and lose weight too :( I just want these suckers reduced lol.

I was scheduled with Gallaher Surgeons and I HIGHLY recommend them, they did not even weigh me and I weighed 190 at time of surgery. The first one is Chattanooga TN is who I DO NOT recomend, but if it is Gallaher I highly recommend them. Dr. Fowler did a great job! The reason I had to lose weight to begin with was because i have Bluecare insurance and they required a BMI of 35.

I'm scheduled to see Dr.Fowler this Wednesday but we are expected to get crappy weather and I will have to drive to Powell alone (no idea how to get there either lol). We have state insurance as well so I am hoping for the best. You do look awesome though and since it is the same doctor, I think I want to risk it as I am just too excited now lol. I was praying Dr.Fowler wasn't the one that suggested weight loss. All I can say is up or down (125lbs - 170lbs) my breasts have remained large and are really taking a toll on my back now. Thank you so much for sharing, you've really given me something to look forward too!!

I wish you luck! Dr. Fowler is wonderful, he was very caring and did a wonderful job. I have follow-up appointment on Wednesday at another office. It will be so worth it, my insurance approval only took 2 days. It was a wonderful experience! I am so excited for you, the only thing I would say is that there post up bras aren't the best so I went to target and Wal-Mart. Way better bras for cheap too.

Thank you very much! I have not changed my appointment yet because the weather is still ok so we'll see tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes on Wednesday should I get to go...and thanks again for the bra tips :)

Consultation and APPROVAL!

I can not contain my excitement right now! I had my consultation on Tuesday 1/12/16. I was very pleased with everything, everyone was so friendly and nice and helpful, it was a MUCH more pleasant experience than the first place I went to. I have lost 25 pounds! I was at my goal weight for BMI (my insurance requires BMI of 35 or less) The surgeon estimated about 800 grams of tissue removal from each breast! (1600 total!) They told me insurance approval takes about 3-6 weeks. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get there, and it was well worth the drive. My boyfriend was with me. He was very excited to hear that my surgeon does not use drains(he was prepared to change them) Now he is relieved of that duty lol. I was very nervous about getting approval from my insurance. I am on Blue care (medicaid) and when they send out re-certification paperwork, i will not be approved because of my income. I was worried that I would lose my insurance before i was approved for surgery. But here I am 2 DAYS LATER, I just received the call that I was APPROVED! Surgery is scheduled for feb 4th. I am so excited! My boyfriend was a little bummed because it will possible interfere with our valentines day plans. I am hoping 10 days will be a good amount of time to at least be able to enjoy dinner and a movie.

Good luck! I'm sure you will feel so much better after the surgery (I'm guessing you deal with lots of back pain). Happy for you!

I have been counting down the days and it is getting so close! I am so excited about this. My preop appointment is on Tuesday. I can't wait! I get my yearly bonus on Wednesday and I am going to use it to get some things to help in my recovery. My fiance is very supportive about it and he helped me pick out the most comfy recliner for me to sleep in, he even rearranged the room to where he can put it close to his side of the bed so he can kinda snuggle me lol. I love him and I am so glad to have someone to help me through this! I deep cleaned my house today and got all the laundry caught up. Got all the dishes washed and put away(this is rare moment lol) I am wanting to get some paper plates and what nots. I don't like when dishes pile up in sink and will he agreed to wash dishes, I know him well enough to know that he will wait until the sink and counter are full before he picks up a sponge lol. I am so ready for this!!! I don't know why is didn't do this sooner. I will forever thank the girl at Victoria's secret for inspiring me. I was shopping for some pajamas one night and there was a sale on some night shirts. She was helping me find the correct sizes when I expressed my frustration of having to buy xlarge just because of my chest. She then told me all about her BR and listening to her talk about everything just made the gears in my head start turning. Up until that moment I only knew of my granny getting one, I was about 13 years old when she decided to show me her scars and her nipples, seeing that and on my granny scarred me lol. So whenever someone would mention a BR I quickly shot it down and shuddered thinking about my grannies nipples. But now I am ready and now that I have started the process and see what a huge and happy moment this is, I can now understand why my granny was more than eager to show me hers lol. My daughter's both know what I am having done, my youngest thought they would be cutting off my head as well, once I told her about it she told my mom "mommy is getting her boobies cut off! But NOT her head, JUST her boobies!" lol she is just to funny.
Now I am ready for Tuesday and then just another 8 days.
