Round 2 of refinements

WORTH IT$4,103
So today I received my 2nd round of refinements and I am very happy it is only 5 trays. My dentist is working with me to fix what needs to be fixed and be done with invisalign. The 5 trays are focusing on tightening up the teeth, particularly the front and getting rid of any spaces. I also have a space on the left when I bite together so I am wearing 2 elastics on the molars to close that space and fix the bite. I had one attachment removed today and 4 metal buttons put on. They didn't remove the button on the right so I have 5 in my mouth which feels odd. At least I don't have to wear elastics on the right. I have an appointment booked for the 31st to remove all attachments and smooth out the teeth. Hoping it all goes well so I can be finished.

Waiting for refinements...Again

Well after 28 trays plus 19 refinement trays I have seen tons of improvement; however, I am needing to get another round of refinements. The over correction trays (we used all 3) did help push away any spaces caused by ipr but did not close the space between the front teeth. It doesn't look like the refinements did much when you look at pictures, but on the clincheck there was quite a bit of movement. I am feeling disappointed as I was really hoping to be finished. The bite has improved significantly on my right side, but I noticed with the last couple over correction trays my bite has changed and I am feeling pressure in some spots when biting down. I think a lot of that is just being used to biting on trays - I don't feel it with the trays in. One spot I was actually biting down and hitting an attachment so the dentist removed it. I still have 18 attachments on my teeth and a metal button as I still have to wear elastics. I guess I figured they would take more attachments off by this point. The most frustrating part is waiting for new trays. With the holidays approaching my dentist is closed for a couple weeks, and invisalign is likely closed as well. I had a feeling this would happen. I will be spending almost a month in this tray. Not a huge deal but I am used to changing every 5 days so a few extra days seems big to me. The nice part about this is my dentist will not give up until I am happy, and has been wonderful! I am so happy I chose to go with the office I did, all of the staff is amazing every single time I go in.

Refinement update

It's been a while since I have updated but honestly it's just been more of the same. Eat, brush, put in trays and elastics and repeat. The elastics aren't terrible to wear, but remembering to put them in has been a challenge. You can see them if I open wide or from the side, and they do make me feel a bit awkward like a teenager. I am now on tray 17 out of 19 refinement trays. 16 trays moved all of my teeth and now number 17 is an over correction tray. According to my dentist this means it pushes my teeth together and only affects the 6 centre teeth. They gave me only one over correction tray and then I have to have a check up. I still have a gap in between my two front teeth so if the over correction tray doesn't close it we will be rescanning for a second round of refinements. I was pretty disappointed to hear that but I don't want to finish invisalign with a stupid gap. I am getting tired of wearing them and was looking forward to being done. You can't see the gap when I have my trays in. I will post another update once I know if I am done or not. I am hoping I will be done in the next month or two. I also can't wait to get the attachments off and get my mouth back to normal! I'm over it. But very glad I have done invisalign.
